My Actifit Report Card: March 5 2022

Many days after the nonstop rain, I'm back in action. I was holding a great record of many days of early morning, 5 am runs, Everyday. So I mostly worked on my walking, a fast paced one.

The forecast was horrendous, they announced rain for the next 8 days straight, after a whole week of rain. Many cities and suburbs were affected by floods in two different states: Queensland and New South Wales.

The schools were shut today as the weather forecast was predicting a cyclone hitting the coast, bringing more flash floods in the region.

The flooding in our region was catastrophic and one of the worst floods in many years. Some places reached levels only registered in 1895 (late 1800s not exactly sure if it was 1895). The clean up of affected areas is huge and just started. Unfortunately, along my walk, I could notice so many people in their cars packed with their belongings. Perhaps, unsure of when they'll return home.

Along the coast, I noticed a few carcasses of animals affected by the heavy rain that Unfortunately could not resist. I obviously did nit take a photo, as the scene woul upset many people. The number of missing people is still high with 10 residents losing their lives when they were carried away by fast current of flooding waters.

After a this deluge, I decided to enjoy this litle 10km of power walk. At 3pm was too hot for the usual run.

I focused on keeping a fast pace around 7 kilometers per hour or more on my way to the south west part of Southport. Reminding that I walked all the way from the opposite side, the north east area of the suburb.

On the way back I reduced the pace and took some nice photos of some locals from the Broadwater parklands in Southport. A large number of mushrooms popped from the ground as it became the perfect habitat for them, with temperatures around 30 degrees Celsius and a humidity of nearly 100%.

Birds such as the yellow masked lap wing (or plover) or ir you prefer it's scientific name: vanellus miles. Pretty nice snd sometimes scary little bird with their spurs under its wings. This is a very traditional bird from South America, but in Australia it presents its unique characteristics with different colors and the yellow mask on their faces

Many other birds were seeing at the park, but I could not stop for a long period as the physical activity must to be completed.

Luckily with the app actifit, it registered the time I stopped. Even though I did not press to finish it. I used at the same time another app called strava and I did not press the finish command and it was rolling until hours after the
activity. Well, it is one thing that I'll have to keep in mind for the next events.

The route used was the usual starting point at the bridge between Labrador and Southport. The Broadwater parklands cover the whole coastal part of the suburb. The whole eastern point of the suburb is the park, bordering the ocean. The north part of the suburb is bordering the Labrador suburb. At the south part, the bridge with the main beach is the bordering the suburb and it is a few meters away from the famous Susrfers Paradise.

Now it's resting time and absolutely looking forward to tomorrow's training and hopefully a 3 kilometers will be done quickly and here we come!!!

I'll meet you guys here with more news and photos, hopefully happy ones, as the recent ones has been filled with sadness and a touch of life
