I had been planning this shot for a long time. Timing and planning were both very important to me. I positioned the moon with the hook of a crane in a way that made it look like I was lifting it with a crane.

I had already calculated which direction the moon would go when it rose and set. I used a long focal length lens to make the moon look big and clear, and I compressed the perspective by shooting from a distance. I chose a time of day when the light was soft—like the golden hour, or just after sunrise—so that the city buildings and moonlight would look beautiful together.
