Kibichuo Okayama : September 29 2025

Today turned out to be probably the lowest output I’ve had so far this Poliac season. Last night, my sister and I stayed over at her best friend’s apartment in Saidaiji, but today we finally made our way to her own place in Kibichuo. Unlike Saidaiji, which already feels like a proper city, Kibichuo is a very small rural town with no access to train stations. Because of that, having a car is absolutely necessary. That also means there’s little chance for long walks since even simple errands like going to the grocery store or a convenience shop require us to drive.

This view for the next 2 weeks 😍

Will my extra large luggage even fit in this very cute car?

My sister’s car is so old-school that it only plays CDs. Good thing I bought some online before coming here.

The day was mostly filled with road trips, but the scenery along the way made up for it : endless views of lakes, mountains, rice fields, and foggy forests. Once we arrived at her apartment, I spent some time settling in. I unpacked my things, gave my ‘pasalubongs’ , did laundry, and immediately got into work mode. The whole day was busy with tasks and meetings, and by the time I wrapped up, I realized I hadn’t done much physical activity at all.

This is my view while working. 😍

Later in the evening, we drove out to Soja, a nearby city about 40 minutes away, to buy groceries and drop by Daiso for some essentials. That was pretty much the highlight of my movement for the day, and when I checked my step count, I saw that it didn’t even come close to 10,000 steps. Since it’s pitch dark outside here at night and the temperature drops to a chilly 18 degrees, I couldn’t even squeeze in a late-night walk like I usually enjoy.

Driving to Soja City at 5PM to go to Daiso and a big grocery store.

A happy place, especially for someone just starting to settle into an apartment.

I listed some items, mostly for organizing, that were missing in my sister’s house, so we bought them at Daiso.
