Do You Limit Your Action and Behavior In A Fight?

Things are getting out of control, so you cannot handle them anymore. When you fight, it does not happen automatically. If you participate in a fighting competition, there is an arrangement beforehand. You know who you are going to fight with. You can also study his/her strength and weakness, and prepare yourself.

When you fight for self-defense, again, it happens for a reason. If you can take the situation under control, you can handle it easily. Let's ask a basic and important question. Are you under control?

Before controlling the situation, make sure you are under control. There is something that can trigger you and you can get angry. Some people say when they get angry, they become stronger. Although it feels like you are very strong and you can do anything in a state of anger. It is driven by emotions and feelings.

As a matter of fact, you limit your behavior and action when you get angry. It might make it difficult to fight and defend yourself. You think you will punch or kick the attacker and it will be over. When you fail to hit the attacker, you might get frustrated. That is also a weak point. At that moment, the attacker can attack and hit you.

Your anger can do more harm than good in self defense.jpg

Sometimes things happen and you take that personally. But that's not personal. When you get angry, you cannot think clearly. There is a chance that you do something that you should not have done.

Not only that, you might not observe the attacker properly. You should adapt to the situation, but since you are very angry, you limit your action and don't use your skills to make your move properly.

Maybe it does not go so far. You can simply avoid that and walk away. But you lose control due to anger and that will not be good in a fight. Your anger can do more harm than good in a fight for self-defense.

So what do you think about this? Please feel free to leave your comments in the comment section.

Thank you so much for reading this post. Stay safe. Always be happy!

I agree that limiting your actions in a fight is important for proper defense, but it goes beyond that as well. There can be terrible outcomes when people aren't careful and don't limit the violence of their attacks. You can injure them too much, or you can inspire them to fight too hard, resulting in a greater chance they will injure you.

Unfortunately, when people fight they are often too angry to think well. Other people should try to stop such fights instead of just standing around watching.

Completely agree with that. That's why always use reasonable force to make any move. You don't need to hurt someone pretty bad if that's not necessary to defend yourself. If you can get out of there without any fight, that's always better. Unfortunately, when people get angry, it is difficult to think clearly at that moment, so there is a chance of making mistakes. And that can increase the violence.

When other people see such fights, they can at least call the police instead of doing nothing.

I have only ever been in a couple of fights in my life that were not in a controlled environment and in these cases I have found that most people don't really know how to fight. They think they do for some reason and will come at you with haymakers and wild shots that if you just know how to cover up you (well, i suppose me) will be fine. In all of these situations I just wrapped up the other guy until he was unable to fight anymore then only release them once they agree to calm the eff down.

It has also been my experience (from watching other people fight) that the "winner" of street or barfights normally end up hurting themselves as well because they don't know how to punch properly. It is really easy to break a finger on someone's head, as strange and perhaps cruel as that sounds.

I am happy to say that months or even years later I have become friends with all but one of the guys I got into a scrap with :) This is because we matured and realized that the reason why we fought in the first place was alcohol-fueled and over something really really stupid. :)

Sometimes people fight for something, and a lot of things happen. If they think about that later, they realize that's silly. There is no reason to fight about that. Glad to know you became friends later. :)

But to address the real point of your post I will say that I totally agree with you. One needs to control their anger if they are going to have a chance. Rage has forced the losses of many professional fighters in all fighting sports including my favorite UFC.

Just think about Jose Aldo and how McGregor got into his head and caused him to lose control and end a 10-year undefeated streak in less than a minute. Dude hasn't been the same ever since either.

I avoid fights at all costs because honestly, even if you win you are most likely still a loser. All the fights I have ever been in were self defense and I like to think that I controlled myself very well specifically because I controlled my anger.

Yes, when we get very angry, we lose control. And most of the time, we do something that we should not have done. It is always better to avoid the fight if that's possible. Thank you very much @sports.guy55 for sharing your experience and thought-provoking comment!
