You can practice different combinations of strikes and defense with your training partner. It will give you an idea of what to do in a similar situation. You can parry and grab your opponent hand against a straight punch.

Then you can counter-attack. You can do a combination of punch. In the title of this post, you see one two three punch. It is nothing but a triple punch. You can do three punches in a combination.

So do you need to grab your opponent hand for the first time after blocking the punch or even keep grabbing his hand with the alternative hand?

Let's watch this video where Master Wong shows a triple punch with training partner.

Master Wong shows how to grab your training partner's hand while doing a triple punch. You can grab his hand so that he cannot strike you with that hand or, have more control of the situation.

When you grab his hand, he might find it difficult to move. So he is there and you can strike.

When you fight for self defense, your opponent will try to prevent you from attacking or do something to cover him. In case your opponent moves back, you have to step forward to punch.

You can grab your opponent hand for the first time and then do a triple punch quickly without grabbing his hand. Let's spend some time to practice with your partner.
