If you face someone who is bigger and stronger than you, you know what it feels like when he strikes. Even you block a punch, because of the power of the strike, you will fight it difficult to deal with a situation like this.

Welcome back to Self Defense Situation - Part 71. In this series of posts, we usually talk about different situations and what you can do to defend yourself and get back home safe.

Today we are going to talk about how to defend a punch from a big guy and what he can still do. Before getting to the main point, let's watch this video first. This is not my video and all video credit goes to Nick Drossos.

Source and Video Credit

When a big guy punches you, you do not want to get too close to him. You can make the distance. You can defend yourself doing palm slap parry. As soon as you block his punch, strike him right away.

You can kick to his legs and knees. The guy can reach you and hit you from distance, but at the same distance, you cannot hit him because he is a big guy. He definitely has some advantages. If you are aware of what you might do to attack you, that will be better to defend yourself.

If you watch this video, you see what might happen even you do outside parry. You might find it hard to stand straight after doing outside parry against a punch. What he shows is, move to the side, grab and strike. (From 0:36 Minute).

What can the big guy still do to attack you?

If you end up a situation like this (In the above video 0:59 Minute), the big guy can still attack you. If you do it fast, and he does not know what's going on, you can get away with this move. The thing is, you do not know whether the big guy does not have any sort of training. He can be well trained and know exactly what to do and how to face different situations.

Nothing is going to prevent him from grabbing you with the hand that is on your shoulder. Or, since he is little bend, your leg can be the easiest target. He can grab your leg and lift you up. Do you see the wall over there? He can just throw you against the wall and you are toast.

When you are aware of what the possible attacks might be, you can do something to defend yourself. Hope you will find it useful. Thank you so much for reading this.
