Soft Method Of Fighting For Self Defense

When your opponent makes his move and strikes you hard, you have to counter-attack or defend yourself. You usually meet force with force. That is, your opponent strikes you hard and you do the same as a defense or response.

When we think about soft method or technique of fighting, you might get confused about it. How would you defend yourself when someone strikes you with full force?

Instead of meeting force with force, you use your opponent force and energy against him. For example, when the attacker pushes you, instead of applying force against him, you follow his direction, grab and pull him towards yourself just slightly changing the direction.

When anyone makes any more to strike, he or she uses her/his energy. In the soft method, you use the attacker's energy, force, and momentum against him. Doing this, you usually make your attacker off balance or put him or her in a vulnerable position where you have the advantage.

As soon as you make the attacker off balance, you can strike and make him fall on the ground or strike vulnerable parts of the body. Soft method seems not very useful in a fight, but it can be very useful even against a bigger and stronger opponent.

It is up to you how you fight for self defense. Sometimes you cannot just apply force against force, you need to use the attacker's momentum and force to redirect him in another direction. Instead of blocking the kick, you grab the attacker's leg and follow the same direction to take him down.

When you see martial art master throws someone on the ground, it seems very easy. But if you try to do that, you will find out that it is not that easy. So why does it seem very easy for martial art master? A martial art master knows it very well how to use the opponent's force and momentum, and make him off balance. And when any opponent loses his balance, you can throw him on the ground easily.
