How many days can you spend without your phone? Just imagine. It's not a problem for our grandfather when they were young. But now even grandfather uses a smartphone. It's a nightmare without having your cell phone.
Welcome back to Self Defense Situation # 128. Every situation is different and you cannot fit one thing in every situation. What works in one situation, that might not work in another situation. When you fight for self defense, your move should be based on the situation.

When you get to know or feel that someone is stealing your phone, you can do something to prevent the thief. It is more of an awareness that can help you in this situation.
When you understand that someone is stealing your phone, you can use your martial art skills to prevent that. But how about if you do not realize that?
Let's see how a thief steals your phone. A thief will not come to say Hi and then take your phone from your pocket. The first thing they do is make you distracted or somehow you are distracted or you pay your full attention to something else. They use that time to steal the phone.
That's why you might not realize what's going on. Later when you see that you do not have your phone, you cannot remember when and how it happened. When you are in a crowded place or you are getting on the public bus, you are not fully aware of what's going on behind you. Or, even when a lot of people are in the bus, a thief uses this as an opportunity to steal your phone.
So what can you do to prevent the thief from stealing your phone? When you get on the public bus, take your phone from your pocket and grab it. If you get down from the bus, you can put your phone on your bag or purse and grab it tightly, or you just simply grab your phone. When you are in a crowded place, be more aware of your surroundings.
