Mauritius Brazilian Jiujutsu Federation | Headquarters | Night Class

I practice the sport of bone breaking: Brazilian Jiujutsu. I am currently a 4 stripe blue belt and I have been training for 5yrs now with a total mat time of +1100 hours.

Here is a quick video i made during my visit to the federation headquarters where i get to train with the first black belt in Mauritius.

Direct link to the video here:

Training at the headquarters under Tawfiq Jaunbocus (Black Belt) is no joke! From the warmups to randori sessions left me speechless with a white face in the end gasping for air and water. Plus the guys are super tough and play the game very seriously BUT! It was all worth it. 30mins into drilling and I was praying man when we will have some water break. The heat was intense and at the end of class, Professor Tawfiq promoted 8 white belts to blue belt! how cool is that! Have a look at the video. The smiles in the end makes it all worth it. Hard works pays off. The class just leveled up with 8 new blue belts. What a rare sight to see blue belts swarming up the mats. Blue belt to me is a huge accomplishment and signifies that the practitioner is a regular student and have put the time in to be now "licensed" to explore all areas in grappling, specially leg entanglements. Man the guys looks so good in that crispy shiny blue belt!

I had an absolute blast there and I made some new friends. Belt whipping as usual is always fun and what a huge moment during the promotions. No one expected this and suddenly all the grind we went through that night felt worth it. If you are new to bjj and really put the hard work in, do not worry about the belts or stripes. They will come. Keep grinding.

PS: I hope the blue belts keep showing up after promotion. JK
