After losing so cheaply to inter Milan in the super cup, Piolo’s boys needed to step up today and claim all 3 points to keep their title hopes alive. Well, they couldn’t do that either.
The last time Ac Milan won a match was on 4th January, ever since they have played 5 matches and lost 3, drawn 2. Things keep on getting worse. Just 4 days after winning against Salernitana, they drew against Roma after going 2 goals up. The amazing thing about that draw was that they were leading by 2 goals in the 77th minute.
After that draw, they were knocked out of the Coppa Italia by Torino in extra time. They drew against Lecce after going two goals down in the first half. Then they were smashed in the super cup final.
If things don’t change for them, they might end up going trophyless this season. They were knocked out of Copa Italia and they failed to win the super cup.
Lazio on the other hand has been quite good. The win against Milan makes it 3 wins in a row for them. The win against Milan will boost their morale to fight until the end. They are still in the Copa Italia after beating Bologna in the round of 16.
It seems Sari football is finally thriving in Lazio. This match was a testimony to that. All though I would like to praise sari, I also have to accept the fact that Milan has been bad. They are nowhere near their best and this might have contributed to the loss.
But still, Lazio didn’t come to defend like we have seen them do in previous seasons, they came to play and boy they did play.
4 minutes into the game Lazio we’re already on top. The way they scored the first goal was what fascinated me the most. When Zacagni played the ball into the box, 3 Lazio players were there. 2 of them could have had a shot at goal but they both dummied the players and the keeper. They left it for Milinkovic-Savic to score.
The game continued in the same fashion with Lazio getting a few more chances and Milan creating little or no danger trying to equalise. All their efforts proved fatal as they could conjure only one chance on target in the whole first half.
Lazio kept knocking on the door until they got their second. The assister for the first goal was the goal scorer. Some might say he didn’t know about the deflected shot hitting him but we must give him credit cause he was at the right position at the right time.
In the second half, Piolo made changes but those changes didn’t help much. They tried but to no avail. The game died in the 67th minute when they conceded a penalty to Lazio. It was converted beautifully by Luis Alberto.
The 4th goal was one I thought could have been avoided. Ac Milan’s defence was all over the place and this caused them a great deal of the game. Anyways I think Sari has done a good one with Lazio so far. Let’s wait and see how they finish this season.
