The Undermined Squad Of Portugal National Team

For some reason I think everyone is downplaying this Portugal squad( or should I say looking down on them). I think they are real contenders for the World Cup along side Brazil, Argentina, Germany and others. Contrary to what others are saying I don’t think England are a real threat here. I think I’ve forgotten about Italy here; they are a real food force to contend with.

Today Portugal played against the Czech Republic and as usual, I wished that Ronaldo could get a hat trick but he could only get an assist. Even though I don't seem too pleased with Ronaldo not getting on the scoresheet I get excited when I look at the squad. Portugal is a real threat to winning the Nations league for the second time even though they have arguably the best player in the world on top form. With all this, they are still playing brilliantly.

Let's not get too hyper about Portugal beating the Czech Republic, after all, they are fourth in the group; but can you blame them when they are in the same group with Portugal and Spain? Spain on the other hand was beaten by Switzerland today by 2 goals to 1 with Jodi Alba scoring the lone goal for the Spaniards. Portugal beat the Czech Republic by 4 goals to nil with Dalot getting 2 goals, Bruno scoring a goal and Jota getting the final amd fourth goal of the night.

Now I want us to take a look at the Portugal squad

A lot of people might be undermining them because of the likes of France who have squad debt, Spain, Germany, Argentina and the others. This day the top five leagues are all blessed with Portugal talents, Rafel Leo for Ac Milan, Jota for Liverpool, Dalot for United and a whole lot of players.

Upfront Portugal has Ronaldo, Pedro Neto, Jao Felix, Jota, Andre Silva, and others. Now look at this line up and choose your top 3 starting line up and see if they won't content with any other top 3 squad.

The midfield is filled with talents like, Bruno, Bernado Silva, Rafel Leo, Ruben Neves and the likes. The back line is made up of players like Cancelo, Dias, Nuno Mendes, Dalot, and the likes. In the keeper department, it will be difficult for anyone to hence Rui Patricio now but their backups are fire. They have Jose Sa and the likes.

The win against the Czech Republic made me realise that we might have been undermining them all this while but looking at things they will compete till the end.
