I think this is a good system, topology: and most of the things you stated here are facts but the one thing I wouldn't take away from UFC ranking is the need to fight and beat some of the top guys before being ranked among the best, there's no way you can claim to be the best if you have not beaten the best.

well of course and the system they are talking about would kind of ensure exactly that. The days of someone like McGregor and Jon Jones getting to jump weight classes and then IMMEDIATELY put into a title fight would get exposed as the sham that they are.
