A veces perdiendo, se gana || Sometimes losing means winning

Saludos a todos los amantes del deporte en la comunidad de Full Deportes, escribo un tanto incómodo, creo que el sinsabor de la casi victoria que no fue, o en el mejor de los casos, esos puntos más que hacían falta para afianzarse en una posición muy cómoda, son ahora puntos que no valen la pena de que quejarse.

Duele un poquito ver cómo tú selección cae, estando tan cerca de la victoria y no se pudo. Tras la emocionante victoria frente a Polonia a la cual hice referencia en mi último post, hoy toca el turno de analizar el partido contra los bicampeones olímpicos franceses.

Para contarles, yo estaba pensando más en el partido de voleibol que en mi trabajo en la jornada de este viernes. Y si, atendía más al Sofascore que a mis estudiantes, claro yo estaba a pie de pasillo, jamás se me ocurriría sacar el móvil delante de mis estudiantes en un aula.

En cuanto al partido, arrancamos bien en los sets 1 y 3, pero para mi hay algo diferente que considero influyó en el resultado del partido, solo hubo una revisión en el vídeo, y fue desfavorable a Cuba. Pero eso no es lo más jodido, sino en qué momento y en qué situación del partido, porque pasas de un 17-17 a un 16-18 en contra y entonces, ahí es donde te das cuenta que cualquier punto en contra desconcentra psicológicamente al deportista.

Incluso me quedaban mis dudas, gracias a un amigo que reside actualmente en Argentina pude conocer qué dicha acción fue marcada como invasión la cual según le comentaron a este lector jamás existió. Retrocediendo en el tiempo, recuerdo un partido contra Turquía allá en 2016, en donde los cubanos recibieron 4 puntos seguidos en contra por errores claros del arbitraje, una vez más sucede, y no quiero quejarme del árbitro pero se debe ser imparcial en cualquier deporte.

Por los cubanos individualmente destacó nuevamente José Massó que ha cambiado su posición de central a atacador auxiliar, y nuevamente Marlon Yant aportó dobles dígitos, negativamente se quedó por debajo de lo esperado el veterano central Robertlandy Simón y el auxiliar Miguel Angel López. En cuanto a los galos, su estrella Ngapeth superó la decena de unidades, la gran mayoría en ataques.

Con este resultado, Cuba a pesar de la derrota se queda solo en la sexta posición, debido a que Ucrania cayó en sets corridos ante Serbia colocando a los antillanos con un punto más, dependiendo de ellos mismos para clasificar a la siguiente ronda, ya que enfrentarán a China dentro de un par de días, de vencer los cubanos a los asiáticos por 3-0 o 3-1, lograremos el objetivo de avanzar de fase.

Finalmente, no puedo dejar de mostrar mi descontento con lo sucedido, pero hay que pasar página y pensar en el próximo rival y apoyar, incondicionalmente a nuestra selección de voleibol, que sin lugar a dudas es actualmente la mejor en deportes colectivos en Cuba.

Greetings to all sports lovers in the Full Deportes community. I write somewhat uncomfortably; I think the bitter taste of the almost victory that wasn’t, or in the best case, those points that were needed to secure a very comfortable position, are now points not worth complaining about.

It hurts a little to see how your team falls, being so close to victory and not being able to achieve it. After the thrilling victory against Poland, which I referenced in my last post, today it’s time to analyze the match against the two-time Olympic champions, France.

To tell you the truth, I was thinking more about the volleyball match than my work during this Friday's shift. Yes, I was paying more attention to Sofascore than to my students; of course, I was in the hallway, and I would never think of taking out my phone in front of my students in a classroom. As for the match, we started well in sets 1 and 3, but for me, there’s something different that I believe influenced the outcome of the match: there was only one video review, and it was unfavorable to Cuba.

But that’s not the worst part; it’s when and in what situation during the match it happened because you go from a 17-17 tie to a 16-18 deficit, and then you realize that any point against psychologically distracts the athlete. I even had my doubts; thanks to a friend who currently resides in Argentina, I learned that this action was called an invasion, which according to what this reader was told, never existed.

Looking back in time, I remember a match against Turkey back in 2016 when the Cubans received 4 consecutive points against them due to clear referee errors. Once again it happens, and I don’t want to complain about the referee, but impartiality should be maintained in any sport.

Individually for the Cubans, José Massó stood out again as he changed his position from middle blocker to outside hitter, and Marlon Yant once again contributed double digits. Negatively, veteran middle blocker Robertlandy Simón and outside hitter Miguel Angel López fell short of expectations. As for the French, their star Ngapeth surpassed ten points, most of them from attacks.

With this result, Cuba remains in sixth place despite the loss because Ukraine fell in straight sets to Serbia, placing the Cubans one point ahead. They are depending on themselves to qualify for the next round as they will face China in a couple of days. If the Cubans defeat the Asians 3-0 or 3-1, we will achieve our goal of advancing to the next phase.

Finally, I cannot help but express my discontent with what happened, but we must turn the page and think about the next opponent and support our volleyball team unconditionally, which without a doubt is currently the best in collective sports in Cuba.
