Siempre se puede más || There is always more that can be done

Hola a todos los apasionados al deporte en la comunidad de Full Deportes y en especial a todos los seguidores del voleibol que tienen una menor cantidad de lectores pero es un deporte que a mí me entretiene muchísimo.

Como muchos saben la Volleyball Nations League (VNL) lleva más de dos meses desarrollándose y ya va entrando en su recta final. La selección masculina cubana de voleibol se ha presentado con un equipo que lejos de potencias como Polonia, Eslovenia o Francia ha dado una cara diferente a otros años en donde han sido aplastados por sus rivales.

Por supuesto, ya naciones como Alemania y el propio Estados Unidos tienen su boleto garantizado a la justa olímpica californiana y esto ha aligerado el camino del equipo cubano en búsqueda de sus tres metas fundamentales, la clasificación olímpica directa, ubicarse entre los primeros ocho y la posición en el ranking mundial.

De momento el balance es favorable para Cuba, con cinco juegos ganados y cuatro perdidos, colocándose en la séptima posición momentáneamente de la clasificación general. Por los nuestros el más destacado y además máximo anotador del torneo ha sido el opuesto Marlon Yant que afortunadamente al fin logra dar el paso con la selección y sacarse los malos augurios sobre su rendimiento con la camiseta de las 4 letras en el pecho.

Sin dudas el aporte de Yant, más el regreso de nuestro estelar Robertlandy Simón fueron las claves del triunfo sobre Bulgaria en la más reciente fecha de la VNL, en donde los cubanos estuvieron casi todo el partido por detrás pero lograron remontar con pizarra final de 3 sets por 2. Los parciales fueron de 23-25, 25-16, 23-25, 27-25 y 15-13, en donde los cubanos sacaron la mejor parte llevándose el gato al agua.

Es válido señalar que previamente los cubanos tuvieron dificultades con el visado de varios de sus atletas lo que propició que muchos de nuestros mejores jugadores no pudieran estar presente en la jornada previa a la actual y esto condujo al balance de 2-2 en la segunda semana de la VNL. Aunque no se puede demeritar lo hecho por estos muchachos que han mostrado mucho coraje en la cancha y han defendido a capa y espada los colores de su país.

Sin dudas el regreso de Simón, marcado además por la cuenta oficial de Volleyball World en sus plataformas digitales, ha sido ese plus que necesitaba nuestra selección de volley para retomar la senda del triunfo tras la dura derrota por 3-2 ante Argentina. Considero que a pesar de los próximos rivales que tienen los cubanos (Polonia y Francia) tenemos posibilidades de avanzar y dependemos de nosotros mismos.

Será difícil el camino pero ya pasamos el primer obstáculo, toca remendar esos errores dentro de la cancha que regalan puntos claves a los contrarios de alcanzar el triunfo. Sin dudas confío plenamente en nuestra selección masculina de voleibol que lograrán su objetivo y cumplan las metas que se han propuesto.

Hello to all sports enthusiasts in the Full Deportes community, and especially to all the volleyball fans who may have a smaller readership, but it’s a sport that entertains me immensely.

As many know, the Volleyball Nations League (VNL) has been ongoing for more than two months and is now entering its final stretch. The Cuban men's volleyball team has presented itself with a squad that, far from powerhouses like Poland, Slovenia, or France, has shown a different face compared to previous years where they were crushed by their rivals.

Of course, nations like Germany and the United States have already secured their tickets to the California Olympic event, which has eased the path for the Cuban team in pursuit of their three main goals: direct Olympic qualification, finishing among the top eight, and improving their position in the world ranking.

So far, the balance is favorable for Cuba, with five wins and four losses, temporarily placing them in seventh position in the overall standings. For our team, the standout player and top scorer of the tournament has been opposite Marlon Yant, who has fortunately managed to step up with the national team and dispel any doubts about his performance while wearing the four letters on his chest.

Undoubtedly, Yant's contribution, along with the return of our star Robertlandy Simón, were key to the victory over Bulgaria in the most recent round of the VNL. The Cubans were behind for almost the entire match but managed to come back with a final score of 3 sets to 2. The set scores were 23-25, 25-16, 23-25, 27-25, and 15-13, where the Cubans came out on top.

It is worth noting that previously, the Cubans faced difficulties with visas for several of their athletes, which meant that many of our best players could not be present in the match prior to this one. This led to a balance of 2-2 in the second week of the VNL. However, we cannot undermine what these young men have accomplished as they have shown great courage on the court and defended their country's colors fiercely.

Without a doubt, Simón's return, highlighted by Volleyball World’s official account on their digital platforms, has been that extra boost our volleyball team needed to get back on the path to victory after a tough 3-2 loss to Argentina. I believe that despite the upcoming opponents (Poland and France), we have a chance to advance and it depends on us.

The road will be difficult, but we have already passed the first obstacle; now we need to fix those errors on the court that give away crucial points to our opponents in order to achieve victory. I fully trust our men’s volleyball team will reach their objectives and fulfill the goals they have set.
