In this outlet, I will be bringing to the limelight those teams, players and managers who are performing against the odds, putting in tremendous efforts of performance. For this week, we are looking at another young star storing opinions. He is none other than Dusan Vlahovic.

Being a Serbian citizen, like most upcoming stars, he started his football journey in Serbia when he joined Altina Zemun football school, he later went on to play for OFK Beograd for only three months, and also had trials with the heavyweights of Serbian football in Red Star Belgrade where he made just one appearance before he joined Partizan in summer 2014.

Vlahović signed his first professional contract with Partizan in 2015, at just 15 years of age. His debut appearance came against his former team in OFK Beograd. With Partizan, he managed 27 appearances across two seasons scoring 3 goals and 1 assist. During that period, he also got his hands on three trophies in the shape of one Serbian SuperLiga in the 2016–17 season and two Serbian cups in 2015–16, 2016–17 seasons. Before finally moving to Fiorentina in the year 2018.

Due to some constraints, Vlahovic who was 18 years old at the time of this move, started his Fiorentina career with their youth team where he bagged 20 goals and 1 assist in 22 appearances which eventually lead to his promotion to the senior team. Vlahović made his senior debut for Fiorentina on September 25, 2018, in a game in which they lost by 2-1 to current lead toppers in Inter Milan. Ever since then, he's being their frontman, ranking up to 106 appearances so far with 47 goals and 7 assists to his name. This year has proved to be his best outing for far as he equalled C. Ronaldo record of 33 Serie A goals in a calendar year. He currently has 16 goals this current season.

Some of his high moments this year includes netting hattricks against Spezia and Benevento.

His performances so far for Fiorentina hasn't gone unnoticed as he was named Best young player of the season in the just concluded 2020-21 season. For his 21 goals contribution, placing him among the Top scorers' list in 4th with 8 behind the eventual winner in C. Ronaldo.

He's been one of the shining lights in Serie A. Therefore, drawing the attention of some of the Top European teams in the likes of Man. City, Arsenal, Tottenham, Real Madrid etc to himself and with the January window getting closer, it's seems to be only a matter of time before he's on the move again.
