(Edited)

Modern chess is too much concerned with things like pawn structure. Forget it, checkmate ends the game.

Introduction

Round 3 of The Friday's Hivechess event hosted by @stayoutoftherz was played today. It was a swiss system where every round pairings are made based on your performance, You can learn more about the swiss system rule here. There were about 30 active participants today which made it very competitive.

Season 9, Round 3.

Congratulations to the Winners and also to Everyone who played

@eniolw continues his dominance in the Hivechess again today as he won the tournament with a remarkable 8/9, His performance once again leaves the second place vacant for @tungphong who has also been consistent. @vjap55 who ended third place on 6/9 tied with two others on points, had a fine tournament beating the two players above.

@samostically and @stayoutoftherz finished 4th and 5th place respectively with just the performance points separating them as they both ended on 6/9.

My performance

I feel quite satisfied with my performance today as i could still play some good chess and still ended up with a nice position which keeps me in the top 3 on the standings.

I played a very interesting game today in my pet line "The smith Morra Gambit" ,one which I feel has been my best since playing Hivechess as I made alot of sacrifices in a king hunt which ended successful.High nerves, lucky moves maybe but still an interesting one. Here is the game below.

Very nice stream.

Very interesting game you and @tony1294 played in this tournament. You appears to play this game in the style of my favorite player (Paul Morphy). We only had books back in the day Morphy book was the only one I read.

Thanks as always @rodrook . I hope you didn't take that screenshot yesterday because very soon it will be taken by others one day.

His games are fun, sometimes you really don't want to be concerned about his mistakes, just the fantastic sacrifices and combinations he does, makes you love chess more

There is a big race at the top; right now @eniolw has a few steps on everyone but you are not far behind...

I had you this time, @samostically, but blundered as usual 🙃

Yes after Bf5! It's a piece for you with a better position. You were focus on exchanging the queens, then lady luck visited me again,
