My Actifit Report Card: August 4 2025
Very busy day today coming back to work with lots of meetings. The first part of the day was non-stop meetings, and then the second part of the day I worked on upgrading our content management system to the new version. That is a big task that involves upgrading the system itself and all the technology components it relies on.
The SQL server has to be updated from 2017 to 2022, and the identity server has to be updated from version six to version seven. The data needs to be migrated, and all the packages in our solution need to be upgraded as well.
After work, I grilled us burgers on the new infrared grill. We use ground bison meat from Costco, and my wife adds some Hawaiian sauce to it and a bunch of spices.
After the meal, we went for a short walk with my wife and daughter. She asked me for a ride, which I was happy to provide.
She is twelve and weighs around seventy pounds, so I am noticing her weight now when we walk around.
After a walk, it was time for us to work on her website. She has been creating art, mostly acrylic canvas paintings, so today, we started building a website for her.
It is going not too fast, but we made some solid progress picking the design and defining site navigation and completed the about artist section.
Tomorrow is time to take my car for a service. It needs oil change, a new transmission mount, and a transmission fluid change.
So tomorrow is going to be another full day, with more work, website work with our daughter and driving to and from the car repair shop.
We are also getting ready for a couple of California trips, one to San Diego and another one to a Bay Area. I am really looking forward to those and will definitely post the pictures from the trips here.
Pictures in this post I took on my recent visit to downtown Seattle.

Wow, SQL server updates and identity server upgrades! 🐎 A big task indeed. Keep active! 💪
Will do
Beautiful Seattle is
Nice to help your daughter
good luck
Thanks!
When getting back to work the first day is always wasted doing alignments... Migration of a db is hella annoying expecially if you gotta do it when customer doesn't work... Are you a dba?
I am not a DBA, but we are a fairly small shop and while my official title is Solutions Architect, I do it all...
Oh togheter with analyst, developer, help desk I guess 🤣
Exactly, and perhaps even more at times :) When my project was hot I was reporting directly to CIO as well so that was not fun. I don't care as long as my paycheck arrives on time :)
haha my work is kinda crappy aswell but until the money arrives... i hope its a fair one at least for you
Ooohh thank you for your life updates and the many beautiful photos of downtown Seattle. So cool you'll be having a vacation soon. Can't wait to read more about it. Enjoy a wonderful week!
