My Actifit Report Card: August 17 2025

Today, we did something different. When our son came over, we went to a Paradise Reserve conservation area and went for a nice walk.

We were not in a rush and spent almost two hours walking the trails and talking about things. It was really nice as we touched on the subjects that we don't normally talk about.

We discussed his long-term financial goals, like building a passive income stream using long-term rentals.

Right now, he is living in a paid off house that I bought when he was just a couple of years old, and he just needs to pay taxes and utilities. In fact, he is not even paying all of those as my parents live in this house as well and help him pay for it.

He has been working for Amgen remotely for over three years now. Most of his income has been going into 401k, and anything left over was going into stocks.

That is a very solid foundation, but I believe that real estate is a very important long-term investment, especially if it has a positive cash flow.

So we talked about him saving up for a down payment to get ready for a potential real estate crash and the lower rates that might be coming sometime next year.

We also discussed his plans for graduate school. He is trying to get into the University of Washington MBA program. Amgen provides some incentive to take graduate level courses with some amount allocated annually towards it.

So he is planning to keep working for Amgen and at the same time take some graduate coursework. It might take longer than two years, but I think it is great that he decided to pursue a graduate degree.

I myself have a Management of Information Systems and Accounting Master Degree from the University of Kansas.

After we were almost done with the walk, we went to a picnic area, which you can see in my cover image and had a nice lunch.

My wife made us great sandwiches with French Baguette, butter, and russian style salami. My son had his favorite pineapple fanta, and for desert, we had some Merci chocolates, cookies, and russian style cheese cake type desert.

It was a nice finish to our hike, and we headed back to our car. After we got home, our son had an event in the game that he was playing, and after he played it for half an hour, we had tea and more desert and conversation.

In the evening, after our son left, we watched the last episode of Jack Ryan with our daughter.

It was a very good weekend overall, and I am ready for the work week. I think it will be a very intense week with a probable production deployment on Tuesday.

I am also going to be making sure that my side project is on track in addition to all the work activities.

Splinterlands is going to have a first event of distribution of prizes for Frontier mode in less than ten hours. Did you get your entries in?

I managed to get twenty-nine entries in, and I am curious if I will get anything. With my usual bad luck I will probably not get anything. But I will find out tomorrow.
