Enjoying my Sunday, Home Made Bolognese and King Boletus Dish
Today was one of those really nice Sundays. The morning started with my wife cooking us a really nice Bolognese dish. I was helping out of course like washing celery, washing and peeling carrots as well as helping her chop it up really nice.
Most of the work was obviously done by her as my cooking abilities do not go very far beyond grilling, frying potatoes or eggs. I also bought all of the ingredients at Costco and at County Market yesterday. We had bison meat and San Marzano tomatoes as some of the main ingredients, wife also added half a bottle of a nice California white wine.
After a couple hours of stewing it we had our pasta which I really enjoyed. But that was just a start of the gourmet meal Sunday. We went for a walk at a nearby office park.
The leaves on the trees were really beautiful today, all kinds of red, green, yellow and orange. I love this part of the year in Seattle. We also saw a lot of Indian people in traditional dresses taking pictures with the red leaf trees.
We also saw some people taking pictures in the middle of the road and watching for cars. I think they did it because the trees were on both sides and made for a really nice frame to their pictures. It didn't look very safe however...
In addition to the walk and beautiful trees at the end of our walk I spotted a bunch of Porcini mushrooms. These particular mushrooms were King Boletus variety. I used to pick thousands of those when I was a kid growing up in Ukraine.
My wife told me that she would cook those for me if I clean and wash them. She decided to refrain from eating them as she didn't have full confidence that I picked the right mushrooms 😀
She did a wonderful job cooking them and I really enjoyed having them with some boiled potatoes and dill. Those potatoes are the very potatoes that we dug out ourselves earlier this year. And these two home cooked meals made for a real foodie feast for me.
I also managed to do a weight lifting workout today. Unfortunately our son couldn't make it today as he got sick a couple days ago. There are a lot of viruses going around right now and he probably picked one up in one of his MBA in person classes.
But I did manage to do a really good weight lifting workout on my own. Today I focused on my upper body chest, shoulders and arms in particular with some back focused pull ups.
After the food fest I had today courtesy of my lovely wife I did want to make sure that I burned at least some of it by walking and weight lifting. Obviously you cannot out excercise your diet, but sometimes you have to take the little pleasures in life like awesome home cooked meals.
As I am writing this, less than nine hours left in Splinterlands Frontier season. I have not heard much buzz about it on Hive blog recently. I wonder if it dropped in popularity a bit...
I have not won any black foils in the Frontier draws yet, hopefully get at least one soon. My Frontier cards are slowly leveling up, so that is a good thing.
My Gladiator cards are almost all maxed out, I think I am missing one Epic and two or three legendary Gladiator cards to fully max out the set. In the recent Splinterlands town hall it was announced that new Gladiator cards are coming, so perhaps I should start saving up my merit tokens...
We also should get our new Conclave Arcana reward cards in two days which should put back some excitement back into Splinterlands community!

Oh lovely street with the red trees... Ragù bolognese suits better with tagliatelle than spaghetti though 😄
Thanks. Yeah, we are used to spaghetti more than any other form of pasta because of our Soviet roots :)
Oh yeah I can understand, south Italy is more for spaghetti, north for short pasta
