Hardfork 28 already causing havoc for SPS blockchain

The Hardfork 28 is not even here, but it already caused havoc on SPS blockchain. You see SPS validator nodes trail Hive blockchain and one of the nodes they use to track Hive has caught a wrong block this morning.

This caused a majority of SPS validator nodes to start missing blocks. Splinterlands created a blockchain snapshot and I was one of the first Splinterlands SPS validator nodes to get back up and running.

I did run into a problem restoring database from the five gigabytes snapshot it turns out that SPS blockchain grew and my full SPS validator node no longer fits on 128 Gig SSD.

I had to upgrade to 256 Gigabytes SSD in order to restore from a snapshot. And it took over an hour. A lot of SPS Validator nodes are still offline or are active but missing all the blocks.

I wonder what would happen when we actually have the hardfork 28 in a few days... At least I used it as an opportunity to upgrade everything on my Linux server.

My Hive witness is still replaying the whole blockchain and it looks like it will take another day at least. Not sure what the bottleneck is. I suspect it is my i7 sixteenth core processor.

Also, today was the Fortune Draws day and once again the luck was not on my side. And tomorrow morning it is the end of the Splinterlands season. I am looking forward to the season end glint and upgrading my new reward cards.

I will probably focus on chest and common Draws. The reason is that I would like to get them to gold level as soon as possible.

By the way, Hard Fork 28 seems to be officially on witness software version v1.28.3 but there is already un-tagged version 1.28.4.

They are not tagging it in order not to confuse exchanges... I saw that consensus witnesses are upgrading to v1.28.3 and that is the reason I decided to upgrade from v1.28.0 which should have also worked. And there are witness nodes running v1.28.0. I just wanted to make sure there are no issues with the earlier version.

There is around four days left before the hardfork 28 and this is my first time taking part in it as a witness so I am curious how it is going to go.

In terms of Actifit steps, I am keeping the streak going, though today I barely managed to make my number and I am again behind on my weight lifting workouts.

Tomorrow is a Saturday and it will be nice to relax and not have to work a bunch of issues that we had this week at work. After production deployment we found more issues and I was working all day to resolve them.

On Sunday our son is coming over hopefully, so we can watch another episode of Halo show and do a weight lifting workout.

Bitcoin is at 96k and Etherium is below 3,200, this sure looks like a good time to dollar cost average if you believe that crypto cycle is not over yet. The fear and greed index is flashing extreme fear like it was during FTX collapse.

And we are actually in a pretty good macro environment where the government shutdown is over, federal reserve about to cut rates and start easy money policy after years of tightening.

The altcoin ETFs are starting to come out and current administration seems to be intent on doing everything to prop up the markets and economy. This should bode well for a Santa Claus rally and a strong 2026 until at least November when we will have midterm elections.
