My Actifit Report Card: January 6 2026

Tuesday came to an end, tomorrow morning I will be going to downtown Seattle again. There are at least two meetings planned for tomorrow, one with my boss and one will be a general meeting where they will be raffling of the cubicles.
For the next six months they will assign us cubicles, unfortunately we don't get to have a cubicle to ourselves, each cubicle is going to be shared with a cubicle buddy as they call it.

Hopefully now that we move up from twenty percent in the office to fifty percent in the office we will at least get trash cans...
Tomorrow we are already planning Microsoft Teams meetings, that is going to be fun trying to shout over each other as we have meetings at the same time. I already have some experience with that on multiple occasions.

This whole back to office initiative is about revitalizing downtown Seattle. I don't think it is going to work. The image above shows the old Abercrombie and Fitch building it and many other businesses have been closed for a while and I don't see any new businesses opening up.
I also heard my coworkers complaining about how expensive the lunch restaurants became. People are talking about bringing lunch from home instead of paying twenty plus dollars for a burger. And these high prices are not surprising as Seattle minimum wage is now $21.30 per hour.

A lot of buildings downtown are empty for the last five years and they put urban art on the boarded up store fronts like the building above for example.
I have not checked recently, but condominiums downtown Seattle have been some of the best bargains in Western Washington real estate. A brand new high end condominium was selling cheaper than the most run down condominiums in the remote and undesirable areas like Tacoma and Federal Way.

There are homeless people and tents everywhere and heavy police presence to keep the returning office workers safe from the drug addicts and mentally ill that fill the streets of Seattle.
We do have a new major in Seattle and she is reportedly ordered police to stop prosecution and arrests of drug users. That is going to be very helpful 😀

Crypto has been doing pretty good, even Hive has been hanging around ten cents. Bitcoin backed off from the recent highs, but I still think that we will see a hundred thousand on Bitcoin in the near future.
That should also help altcoins that have been pumping in recent days as well. One particular altcoin has been on a tear. Splinterlands has a mini set coming out next month and SPS is up over thirty percent in last thirty days!

Not sure if we hit one cent SPS on these news, but it should trend higher for the next thirty days. While I predicted this run a few months ago, I didn't have any spare funds in the Hive or SPS ecosystem to take advantage of this predictable run up.
Maybe I should play the next major card set release by moving some fund into SPS when it will start another dive in price after the mini-set comes out and excitement dies down. These cycles seem really predictable at this point.

Homelessness and drugs seem to be a big problem everywhere lately. Even in our small town where we live we have both running like a scourge.
Probably more here, because of our mild climate and friendly authorities
Downtown Seattle is so lovely 😍 I !HOPE that there's a way to save the office building bust there. Here online shopping is thriving, although there are quite a few who still trek to shopping areas. I don't think malls are as lively as before anymore. I only go there when I need to 😆 Happy back to work week! Hopefully Hive price recovers soonest too. Happy midweek!

Thanks :) Well, our shopping malls are still very busy, in fact there is not enough parking at those these days. It is all the stores downtown that died as people don't really shop there... Most people live outside downtown and there is no reason to go there with all the crime, homelessness, traffic and other problems.
$21.30 for the minimum wage WOW!😳
I wonder if that is just Seattle proper or Washington state in general?🙄
That is city of Seattle, Washington state is $17.13 per hour, but some areas in Washington state are even higher than Seattle. Tukwila ($21.65) also will have one of the country's highest citywide minimum wages next year, while Burien ($21.63), Renton ($21.57), Everett ($20.77) and SeaTac ($20.74) will have some of the country's highest rates.

I just found out that Bellingham is $19.13 per hour, apparently they passed some initiative where city minimum wage is two dollars above the state minimum....
Almost looks like we are going into hyperinflation........
Not sure about hyperinflation, but our prices for restaurants and real estate are at least twice of those in most states...
Crazy expensive my friend.......
When our youngest son and his wife had their baby we priced motel rooms in Seattle I was shocked at how high the price had recently jumped!🙄
The cover photo is such a beauty. Somehow it looked similar to Santa Monica
