We Italians are very good at belittling the successes of others and exalting our own.
When Italy won the European Championship we did not ask ourselves how and why, but we simply welcomed the victory with an almost epic triumphalism.
No one pointed out that Italy had won a European Championship without ever winning a match in regulation time from the eighth round onwards, except against Belgium and suffering like crazy.
No one observed how every time Mancini had to make a change, he ended up playing with marginal people like the ignoble Bernardeschi, the tired Belotti, the dull Cristante, the adapted Toloi.
We were all too happy to see the limits of that national team.
Today, since we are out of the World Cup and we will have to pass through the Playoffs, we have all become coaches again, ready to hope and, at the same time, to stain that national team that 3 months ago gave us so much joy.
It would be nice if in this country we would bring forward our critical spirit always and in any case and not only when things go wrong.
In the public as in the private sector, in sport as in the economy, in health and in business, we are good at criticizing losers and ruinous situations only when they lose and when they arrive.
Personally, I have always found Mancini's path something amazing. He started from a disastrous situation and has built with difficulty a winning nucleus starting from the youth. I give him 10 votes and praise for having had the vision.
The Italy that won the European Championship, however, had great limitations and had great fortunes.
What would we have thought if France or Germany had won the European Championship going into extra time and penalties?
What would we have said if France or Germany had won by ending their matches with Belotti, Bernardeschi, Toloi, Emerson, Cristante and company?

We would have thought but what the f... sti Germans and sti French.
Now that we are almost out of the World Cup, we all discover how inadequate some players are and how difficult it is to emerge when there are injuries and how a team so young is mentally unprepared to handle situations of strong instability as that of the last meetings.
Nothing takes away from the victory of the European Championships, nothing takes away from this extraordinary group, nothing takes away from the excellent work of Mancini but it would be good to try to read things with a critical spirit and not with a servile and triumphalist spirit...always!

Noi italiani siamo bravissimi a sminuire i successi degli altri ed esaltare i nostri.
Quando l'Italia ha vinto gli Europei non ci siamo chiesti come e perchè ma abbiamo semplicemente accolto la vittoria con un trionfalismo quasi epico.
Nessuno ha fatto notare che l'italia avesse vinto un Europeo senza vincere mai una partita nei tempi regolamentari dagli ottavi in poi se non con il Belgio e soffrendo come matti.
Nessuno aveva osservato come ogni volta che Mancini dovesse fare un cambio finissimo per giocare con gente marginalissima tipo l'ignobile Bernardeschi, l'affaticatissimo Belotti, lo scialbo Cristante, l'adattato Toloi.
Eravamo tutti troppo felici per cogliere i limiti di quella nazionale.
Oggi che siamo fuori dai Mondiali in presa diretta e dovremo passare dai Playoff siamo tutti nuovamente diventati allenatori, pronti a sperare e al tempo stesso macchiare quella nazionale che 3 mesi fa tante gioie ci aveva fatto provare.
Sarebbe bello che in questo paese si portasse avanti il proprio spirito critico sempre e comunque e non solo quando le cose ci vanno male.
Nel pubblico come nel privato, nello sport come nell'economia, nella salute e nell'economia, siamo bravi a criticare i perdenti e le situazioni rovinose solo quando essi perdono e quando esse arrivano.
Personalmente ho sempre trovato il percorso Manciniano qualcosa di stupefacente. E' partito da una situazione disastrosa e ha costruito con fatica un nucleo vincente partendo dai giovani. Voto 10 e lode a lui per aver avuto la visione.
L'Italia che ha vinto l'Europeo, però, aveva grossi limiti e ha avuto grosse fortune.
Cosa avremmo pensato se la Francia o la Germania avessero vinto un Europeo andando di supplementari e di rigori?

Avremmo pensato ma che c... sti tedeschi e sti francesi.
Ora che siamo quasi fuori dai mondiali tutti scopriamo quanto siano inadeguati certi giocatori e quanto sia difficoltoso emergere quando ci sono degli infortunati e quanto una squadra cosi giovane sia mentalmente impreparata a gestire situazioni di fortissima instabilità come quella degli ultimi incontri.
Nulla toglie alla vittoria degli Europei, nulla toglie a questo straordinario gruppo, nulla toglie al lavoro eccelso di Mancini ma sarebbe bene provare a leggere le cose con spirito critico e non spirito servile e trionfalistico...sempre!
