Interesting information appeared that the Bulgarian Football Federation launched an action against racism.

This action was called the “Scarf of Respect” and in connection with this, special scarves for fans were issued, which are painted in the colors of the national flag of Bulgaria and most importantly they contain white and black stripes interwoven in the middle in a handshake.

This decision was made when Bulgaria was punished by holding one match without spectators, after racist incidents in the home match of Euro 2020 selection against England, which ended with the score 0-6.

At this match, in addition to racist slogans, a group of fans from Bulgaria showed Nazi greetings, throwing straight arms up and some fans hung t-shirts on the rostrum that showed the logo of the Union of European Football Associations and the inscription “No respect”.

This behavior of a separate group of Bulgarian fans is a direct reference to one of the main principles of the organization, because UEFA has long been actively campaigning for “Respect”, aimed at combating any manifestations of racism and extremism in football.

However, I am very glad that the vast majority of Bulgarian fans do not support the Nazi mood in sports and the leadership of the Bulgarian Football Federation reacted in time to such racist manifestations, so decided to hold an action “Scarf of Respect”.

I have always considered and consider unacceptable racism in football and in all sports. This destroys the very spirit of competition and the athlete’s personality, therefore I will always be against racism and support this “Scarf of Respect” campaign organized by the Bulgarian Football Federation.
