[EN/PT-BR] Sports and major events are a powerful social tool

Sports are a powerful tool for social action, serving both to bring together people who share common interests and to combat the marginalization of children and adolescents in the world of crime. For these reasons and many others, I believe that any and all investments in sports are extremely welcome. No matter how much money is spent on the Olympics or the World Cup, all of these major events are a source of inspiration for people, especially because they are catalysts for good deeds in a world so complicated and where feelings of kindness are often overlooked.

I'm a big supporter of sports. My first attempt at college was to study physical education. When I didn't make it, I enrolled in a technology program. I remember that since I was a child, I've always loved playing soccer, handball, and basketball, and through that, I've made countless friends and met many people. The best part is that sports help us connect with others. I've often arrived at the soccer field without knowing anyone and asked if I could play soccer, only to leave knowing many people. Sports bring people together.

I believe that sports deserve investment as much as health and education, and although we sometimes complain and wonder how the money that goes into sports could be used for other things (this was quite controversial during the World Cup held here in Brazil), I agree that investments in sports are necessary because it's a powerful social tool that brings people together. When used correctly, actions that utilize sport as a form of empowerment bring excellent results for society, justifying your investment.

Of course, we can argue that in countries where corruption reigns and nothing is done to combat it, there will always be a lack of funds for important areas that society needs. But this, unfortunately, is a problem that isn't the fault of the sport itself, but rather of corrupt leaders who do everything they can to cheat the population. If there were no corruption, I'm sure there would always be enough money to invest in a wide range of areas, including sports, so there would never be the feeling of money spent on soccer that could be going to healthcare.

Therefore, each event held can bring its own benefits, whether local events in your neighborhood, city, or country, or the major competitions, as described. In addition to the social benefits this brings, there are many other aspects involved, such as job creation, the inflow of resources into the host country, and the country's exposure to the world, which can lead to new investments from public or private companies. In short, there are a whole layer of positive benefits that come from hosting major sporting events, and these are facts we cannot deny!

With this perspective on the subject, I believe it is necessary to have major sporting events, such as the World Cup, the Olympics, and any other derivative that moves the world of sports. All of this can generate many benefits for the venues where they are held, not to mention that for a normal person and their family, it's always a great family outing, cheering and shouting together for the team we're rooting for. Sports are an essential tool for culture and human evolution!

Os esportes são uma poderosa ferramenta de ação social que serve tanto para aproximar pessoas que possuem o mesmo gosto como no combate à marginalização de crianças e adolescentes no mundo do crime. Por estes motivos e muitos outros, acredito que todo e qualquer investimento realizado em esportes é super bem-vindo. Por mais que se gaste muito dinheiro em Olimpíadas ou Copa do Mundo, todos estes eventos máximos são uma fonte de inspiração para as pessoas, principalmente por serem catalizadores de boas ações em um mundo tão complicado e que sentimentos de bondade são deixados de lado.

Defendo os esportes sem nem pensar, inclusive a minha primeira tentativa de entrar na faculdade foi justamente para o curso de educação física. Como não consegui, entrei para um curso na área da tecnologia. Lembro que desde criança sempre gostei de jogar futebol, handebol e basquete e, com isso, fiz inúmeras amizades, assim como conheci muitas pessoas. O mais legal é que os esportes nos auxiliam a nos conectar com outras pessoas. Quantas vezes cheguei na quadra de futebol sem conhecer ninguém e perguntei se podia jogar futebol e, com isso, saí de lá conhecendo muitas pessoas, assim, o esporte aproxima as pessoas.

Acredito que o esporte merece receber investimentos tanto quanto saúde e educação e, por mais que às vezes a gente reclame e fique pensando em como o dinheiro que vai para ele poderia ser utilizado em outras coisas (isso foi bem polêmico na Copa do Mundo que ocorreu aqui no Brasil), concordo que investimentos na área dos esportes são necessários porque é uma ferramenta social poderosa e que une as pessoas. Quando utilizado corretamente, as ações que ocorrem usando o esporte como uma forma de potencializar, trazem resultados ótimos para a sociedade, o que justifica ter o seu investimento assegurado.

Claro que podemos pautar que, em países onde a corrupção reina e nada é feito para combatê-la, sempre vai faltar dinheiro para áreas importantes de que uma sociedade precisa, mas isso infelizmente é um tipo de problema que não é culpa do esporte em si e sim dos governantes corruptos que fazem de tudo para passar a perna na população. Se não houvesse corrupção, tenho certeza de que sempre iria existir dinheiro suficiente para aplicar nas mais diversas áreas, inclusive na esportiva, então nunca iria ter essa sensação de dinheiro gasto com futebol que poderia ir para a saúde.

Então, cada evento realizado pode trazer os seus benefícios, seja eventos locais no seu bairro, cidade ou país ou as competições máximas, como descrito. Além da benfeitoria social que isso nos retorna, ainda temos muitas outras coisas ligadas, como geração de emprego, entrada de recursos no país sede, exposição do país para o mundo, o que pode trazer a entrada de novos investimentos por empresas públicas ou privadas, enfim, tem toda uma camada e pontos positivos retornados por sediar grandes eventos esportivos e isso são fatos que não podemos negar!

Com este ponto de vista que tenho sobre o assunto, acho necessário termos eventos máximos do esporte, como Copa do Mundo, Olimpíadas e qualquer outro derivado que movimente o mundo dos esportes. Tudo isso pode gerar muitos benefícios para os locais onde são sediados, sem contar que para uma pessoa normal e sua família, é sempre um ótimo programa para se fazer em família, torcer e gritar juntos por quem estamos torcendo. Os esportes são uma ferramenta essencial para a cultura e evolução humana!
