My Actifit Report Card: March 26 2021

Friday, time to explore!😊
“Looks like I will be home late Silvertop!🥰”
I was in town, picking up some kindling firewood pallets, and on my way home I passed a hiking trailhead for Sumas Mountain.
I had been wanting to explore this network of trails. This is where the Lumber company planted a reforestation forest in 1992.
I hiked this trail last month, but I didn’t get very far......So.........☺️
Truck full of pallets, I made a right turn and parked at the trailhead!😊
Today I was on the clock. I always time my hike, I watch how long it takes me to hike uphill. Then I know I can safely descend in the same, or less time going downhill to get back to my truck.😇
This trail starts flat, with two miles following the river. Then it passes an old gravel pit and a section of old original lumber clear cut. This clear cut looks like a bomb went off, even after thirty years it looks bad!😲
I believe they planted the adjacent forest and left this as a permanent record of how it would look if the forest had not been replanted!
Then as I hiked around a turn, I could hear the sound of the river, it was emerging out of the Douglas Fir Mountain forest!
My hike now was uphill......
Go straight....Turn right???🤔
I decided to stick to the main trail, I didn’t want to get too far off the beaten path!
Times up.....time to turnaround!
Looks like Liz needs to join me on another day, and “you” for another post!😇
