Welcome to "Crypto Skaters" Issue #7 everyone.

"Crypto Skaters" is a new skatehive.app exclusive series. Each week we're gonna interview one member of Skatehive community, ask a bunch of questions about skateboarding, life and their involvement with crypto and web3.

In this issue we invited @homelesscrewmx, skateboarder, professional driver, digital designer, film maker and member of Skatehive since 2021.

Hey @homelesscrewmx, welcome to "Crypto Skaters"

  • Yo greetings to the best community in the world!! haha you all rock Crypto Skaters.

Can you tell us a few things about you?

  • Well I'm 23 years old Mexican dude whos blog is focused in uploading content I film while skating the rought streets and skate parks with my friends!I studied digital market and virtual environments for 2 years. I'm mostly focused in evolving my blog these days cause I just can´t find a cool job and that's the reason I am an uber driver. I love eating fruits, vegetables, seeds and chocolate haha I also like yoga and diferent "spiritual" disciplines that expand my consciousness.

What's you background with skateboarding? (when did you start skating, why etc.)

  • My first contact with skatebarding was when I was 9 years old. In 2008 I moved from Mexico to the USA and there my aunts family received us for some months while my family found a job to pay our own rent and bills, immigrant days baby haha, one of my cousins used to skate really hard, I thing he was like 15 years old back in the days, he was a really rude guy and actually bully me alot, what makes me laught so much now a days hahahaha Like I was young and ignorant I admired him so much so he try to teach me how to skate a couple of time but as soon as I got on the board I ate shit so so hard hahahaha so I said fuck skating is not for me and I kept that thought in my mind until I came back to mexico 2 or 3 years later, I don´t know why but almost all my school mates had a skateboard but only a few actually skate. School was located in my neighborhood and same for many of the kids who studied there so every afternoon I spent some time watching them skate and I started to give skateboarding one more chance in my life, best dicision I could make. Those friends showed me the friendship that skateboarding can give to the people, it was a type of friendship that I never saw before, they used to motivate each other a lot on landing tricks and stuff and I feel like that´s what made me gave it one more chance, I start learning from them when I was like 12 in the year 2011 and thats when I onboard skateboarding and never left it behind ever again.

Favourite Skater and video part?

  • As many have said, this might be the hardest question of the interview haha I like so many skaters, but one of the dudes I have connected the most with while watching him skate is the legend Shane Cross, I even gotta say my favorite video part is his "Extremely Sorry". I have no doubts, such an iconic video part in the skateboarding world, edit match so well with his personality and his skate style. Rest in peace Shane.

How did you get involved with crypto and why?

I got involed with crypto all thank to my homie @viviendolibre, he talk to me about crypto so many times and then started talking to me about earning crypto with my skate content. We kind of started @keepskating420 project together but at the begining I was only interest in getting style for the project at web 2.0 platforms and parallel to this @viviendolibre was getting more and more involed with web 3.0. Truth is that he had to insist about it before I actually take a look and start my Hive journey with @homelesscrewmx account, which is the only account I manage right now hehe.

How did you find out about Skatehive?

  • All I gotta say is that @viviendolibre deserves some weed and beers haha.

Kickflips or Heelflips?

  • I feel like kick flips are more classics then heel flips but I have always done better heel flips.

In your opinion, how can Web3 change skateboarding?

  • Oh boy!! I live in a country where it is very, very difficult to get a real sponsor that supports skaters in everything that being a skater implies, in fact I don't know a guy or a brand that lives 100% of skateboarding. The best skaters in town are very close friends of mine and have only managed to get the support of a couple of boards or a few t-shirts per month, no trucks, no wheels, no shoes, and absolutely no medical care. The thing is that skateboarding still needs to develop and improve a lot in Mexico, there are even some solid brands in the market that have achieved resounding success but have not focused on skate content at all, only on fashion photos for their clothes. but they still say they are skate brands lol. So this is where web3 comes in, I see a new era in which Mexican skaters and artists support each other, taking full advantage of HIVE's circular economy and its blockchain, without having to invest more than we already do at the moment for our boards and films. Web3 has the mechanism to empower us individually and not have to die every time we skate trying to capture the attention of a "not true skate company" that could sponsors us, but rather gives us the possibility of becoming in our own skate sponsor enjoying 100% what we do.

Any Web 3 communities you're part of and wanna mention other than Skatehive?

  • I sometimes make post at Photography Lovers and Hive Pets but I´m not really that involed with them as I am with SkateHive, I also post in thatsgnar.ly but I still need to learn how NFT's and platform works out. Oh! and I recently joined LeoThreads, a decentralized micro-blogging platform built upon Hive blockchain who partnered up with SkateHive community.

What should we expect from @homelesscrewmx this 2023?

  • *Definitely we're gonna drop the "Salado" video in the next couple mounths, it's a long length we have worked for some years where you will be able to feel what mexican skateboarding is really like, we have told you about it in some of our past posts. Also there is another video that Bowleros lokos is working on parallel to the salado video, that film is gonna be drop this year, I don´t gonna mention more about it but it´s something we are making true and it's gonna be dope too, you'll see. We also are gonna work in some colabs stuff with @kike.adventure , @keepskating420 and @cosmicaz-roller so expect more and more blogs and vlogs. Also one of are big goals this years is to onboard more friends into skatehive, that is something that we really dream with and gonna put all nuts on it haha. *

Any last words for those reading or anything you wanna mention?

  • Stay high and conected with your heart, do anything in your hands to achieved your dreams, things that worth don´t come easy, you are the creator of your own reallity so keep atention in your toughts, think positive and big, the rewards will come once you are ready to do the right thing with them. Skate for life, your inner child will thank you.

Dude Awesome! Boleros Locos is sick! i like Vol 2. I like all the mexican spots you guys skate! All the things you guys drop in on. I like that one clip where the dude does a pole jam and then board-slides the top of a bench in front of all those people! raw!
