Former Nigeria international, Isaac Promise dies at 31
A former Nigeria international who played as a striker for an American team has been confirmed dead.
The former Genclerbirligi and Trabzonspor striker passed away at a very young age of 31.
Bobby Epstein, Austin Bold FC chairman, announced the player's demise on Wednesday.
The chairman wrote:
Promise was an unused substitute in his team 2-1 away victory at Portland Timbers on Tuesday.
The former player captained Nigeria to the 2003 Fifa U17 World Cup which was held in Finland. He also captained and played a major role in the 2005 Fifa U20 World Cup in Netherlands. Him and his team won as the runners-up to Argentina.
Promise also played an important role at the 2008 Olympics. He was a key member of the Nigeria squad who won silver medal in Beijing and also scoring in the 2-1 triumph over the United States in the group stage.
He would be greatly missed and i pray that God grant his family the fortitude to bear the loss.
