촌고마비의 계절이다.
우리나라는 지형적 특성상 오래 전부터 추수가 시작되는 가을에 북방 오랑캐의 습격이 잦았다고 한다.
농경 생활을 하지 멋하는 북방민족은 겨울을 나기 위해 남쪽의 농경국가의 가축과 농산물을 약탈해야 했는데 그러한 활동을 하기에 가장 작합한 시기가 바로 가을이었던 것이다.
천고마비.
지금까지 먹을 것이 풍부하고 하늘이 맑고 푸르기에 보기 좋은 계절이라는 뜻으로 알고 있었으나 이제야 이 사자성어가 무엇을 뜻하는지 알게 되었다.
