The Big 3 Points In Football

It's yet another weekend and we all know what that signifies?
Might signify a whole lot of things for you but for football lovers, definitely what tops the list remains that it's football time, hehe.

As we all know whenever you win your opponent in a football match in a league format, you go home with 3 points, this is regardless of the team they are or team they win, but then often times, we hear people saying that a club not only went home with a 3 points but then they add, they went home with big 3points which begs the question,

Is there really a thing as Big 3 points in football?

Are some 3 points greater than other 3 points?

Let's use the Arsenal Vs Liverpool match as a case study.....

Going into the game, Arsenal were trailing Liverpool by 5 points, had Liverpool won, they would extend the lead to 8 points, making it difficult for Arsenal to get back in the title race and further shattering their hopes while making their (Liverpool) position as favourites stronger regardless of the fact that Manchester City are just on their way though, lol.

In as much as 3 points is 3 points, when it comes against a close rival or in a title deciding match, it becomes a big 3 points, this is also seen among top 4 contenders or among Europa league contenders.
There are a few other instances like in the battle to avoid relegation

It's another week of football again, would we be expecting a big 3 points from any team or would they be just 3 points.

Taking a close look at the fixtures this gameweek...

I think Manchester United could also be considered as taking a big 3 points if they manage to pull a win from Aston Villa like they already did before in their first encounter in December but well, the odds are against them this time around as they will be going to Villa Park and we all know Aston Villa is one of the few teams that we can comfortably say to enjoy the "home advantage feature" in football as they pull a whole different energy right in front of their fans but football happens anyway and anything could happen also.

Also, considering the fact that Aston Villa just exited the FA Cup following a Chelsea 3-1 win, they will be looking up to put a wonderful performance today but like I already said, football can be quite unpredictable and even when there's a 1% odd in the favour of your opponent, it might see them through with a win or worst still, a draw.

I also think the big 3 points will be coming from Sheffield if they manage to pull a win from Luton even though it won't push them a step ahead from the bottom of the table where they are sitting because of goal difference but makes them equal Burnley's points because I think Liverpool fans would walk with their fans this gameweek having walked alone last weekend, hehehe.

Thanks for reading and have a nice day ahead

Absolutely, in football, every win counts, but those victories against direct rivals or in crucial matches really do feel like a 'big 3 points'.
