I was totally right on the Celtics / Sixers matchup

I love it when i get a prediction right and it's always times like these where I wish I had made some sort of bet. I'm guessing the odds wouldn't have been great in Vegas lines to bet on the Celtics sweeping the 76ers but it would have likely been more than 1:1.

Oh well, for now I will just gloat a bit.

When you look at the scores of each individual game, some of the final tallies look as though the games were competitive and that Philly just had some bad luck and if you only watched say, the first half of each of the games, it might give you the impression that this could be true. However, if you actually watched the games you would know that this is not really the case.

When you go into the locker room at halftime up by a point, and then get outscored in 32-19 in the 3rd quarter, your team needs to get its s**t together. In Game 2 the same thing happened when the entire thing looked like it was anyone's game only to have the Sixers emerge from the half time talks to be outscored 33-18 in the 3rd. You don't recover from that sort of 3rd quarter domination and the Philly side lost that game by 27 points.

This is a particularly embarrassing situation for the 76ers because they just spent nearly $300 million and were supposed to be a top contender for the championship this year... well, at least on paper.

It's been a tough 10 years for Philly fans as they were intentionally stripping their team of talent and losing a lot, some would say on purpose, in order to get better draft picks. The 2015 / 2016 season was particularly embarrassing where they had an overall record of 10-72. Seventy two losses in one season!

Brett Brown was fired as head coach after getting swept out of the playoffs and honestly, I think this is more of an offering to try to sate the fans but Brett isn't the only problem at Philly, I don't know what the issue is but money isn't the problem - they had / have plenty of that.

The only thing I can say in Philadelphia's defense is that they were missing key player Ben Simmons for the entire season. Now there are rumblings about Simmons getting traded to Phoenix next year. Could it be a good move? I don't know. What i do know is that the Sixers looked like they didn't belong in the playoffs at all during this series, and it isn't often that you can say this when it is a no. 3 vs no. 6 seed in the first round of the playoffs.

One Twitter user summed up the disappointment in a shell when he said "Sixers had a team that lost 4-1 to the Celtics. Traded everyone, spent $300 million, and lost 4-0 to the Celtics"

Did you predict the activists shutting the league down? I don't really even watch the sport but this is just crazy.

I'll admit that i check the scores, mostly after reading your writeups. I pretty much fell out of NBA interest around the mid 90's and don't really know who any of the stars are for their prowess on the court but rather for their performances in other types of court.
