Le Veon Bell is going to Kansas City and it almost seems unfair

If there was a team out there that really doesn't need the explosive talent of a running back like Le Veon Bell, it's probably the reigning Super Bowl Champions, the Kansas City Chiefs.

They already have an amazing offense with Patrick Mahomes, Tyreek Hill,Travis Kelce, and Clyde Edwards-Helaire. The addition of one of the best running backs currently playing in the NFL is going to make the Chiefs seem unstoppable.

There was some behind the scenes chatter that the negotiations weren't going well or even that it was all speculation that Bell would be moving to KC after being released by the Jets but his own Instagram kind of put all that to rest and we now know it is official.

To add more insult to the Jets, who are 0-5 and seem to have resigned themselves to intentionally being bad this year in the hopes of getting good draft picks, Bell will face his old team on November 1st when the Jets travel to Kansas City almost certainly to get whooped badly.

So far this season the Chiefs rushing yards have been less than amazing with most of the total rushing yards coming at the hands and feet of rookie draft pick Edwards-Helaire who just finished at LSU last year. The problem that he was facing with the Chiefs is that if they lined up in an obvious run play, the defense knew exactly who it was going to. The addition of Bell will change all of that and could be a very interesting part of the overall offense.

At the moment the Chiefs are 13th in the league in rushing, which isn't a fantastic place to be for a team that just won the big game and have essentially the same lineup as last year.

It was expected that Bell was going to turn around the Jets when they signed him to an incredible multi-million dollar contract but that simply didn't end up being the case. As it turns out, it doesn't matter how good of a runner you are if your offensive line is completely useless at protecting you.

Bell's yards per carry has been diminishing over the past 5 years, decreasing from nearly 5 yards per carry in 2016 and dropped to a mere 2.3 thus far in 2020. He certainly has a lot to prove in his move to KC but personally I think we are going to see great things from him although it isn't going to be the cakewalk that we might be expecting. The Chiefs are in the top 10 as far as offensive lines are concerned but they are far from being the best.

It will still be a dramatic improvement from the Jets though, as they are right at the bottom as far as this, and basically every other metric is concerned.

Bell was my first round draft pick in fantasy football in 2019 and what a massive letdown he turned out to be. It wasn't just me that was excited about him playing there as he was all but guaranteed to be given the ball over and over and over again (and this is exactly what happened) but as it turns out when the rest of your team absolutely sucks, you still aren't going to get very far when eleven 300lb + dudes already know who is going to get the ball.

It will be very exciting to see how Bell performs with his new team and since I am a KC fan I hope he doesn't let us down!

The funny, ironic, and a little bit sad part of this transfer is that the Jets, a team he no longer plays for and is going to be a part of thrashing on Nov. 1st, are still paying him around 6 times what the Chiefs are even though he isn't playing for them anymore.

I agree, my sister lives there and she is a long suffering fan, who is very happy right now!

It will certainly be cold, but we hope the fire of Fan Intensity keeps them warm in the stands!

we don't get a good time zone on the games over here and I normally only ever watch the playoffs and the super bowl. It was nice to see the Chiefs back there last year though. With this new addition I would imagine they would already be considered a top team to go there again this year.

say what? I don't really keep up with sports news all that closely but this should be very interesting to see unfold. Bell was just getting mobbed on every play with the Jets so it will be interesting to see what he can do when he isn't the only talent on the field for his side.
