RE: The Calm before the Storm: Not much talk of anything UFC in the news

i would say that have already sacrificed a lot of the older fans in lieu of new fans that don't really even understand that sport. The kind of WWE sort of fans that want the microphone hype, that want the 2 million IG followers and the sort of controversy that means both sides are going to be talking trash and striking out at one another during the weigh ins, people that want drama rather than the truly best fights.

This White House card actually exemplifies this pretty well. The top fight is legit kind of but Gaetje was kind of installed into his position. The co-main has the workings to be good but again this was engineered. Pereira has never fought at HW before and is now fighting for championship without fighting a single one of the lower-level fighters... why? Because UFC selected him to be the first 3-weight-division champion. The other champions who got 2 belts are numerous, but for those as well most of them skipped the part where you have to prove yourself in that division and just shoot straight up to the top regardless. What's the point of having rankings if some people just get to leapfrog to the top whenever they feel like it?

Bo Nickal being on this card has everything to do with him being "the next big thing" that lost a fight he wasn't supposed to fight.

It's all very frustrating and I could write a thousand words that showcases my displeasure with the ranking systems and the rigging of matches that goes on with UFC. It has strangely kind of pushed me towards things like Jake Paul's boxing because at least we KNOW that is rigged as far as the fights are concerned. UFC spends a lot of time manipulating the masses and coming up with wonderful highlight reels and probably pays an army of social media people to get a bunch of momentum behind fights with very selective reels that can make anyone look good.
