SportsBlock Dev Update — Week of March 17

$1

Right, I'll be honest — this wasn't meant to be such a big week as us Irish love a few drinks on Patricks Day which was last Tuesday. I had a quick trip to London at the back end of it as well , so I thought it'd be a quieter one. Turns out 23 commits disagrees with that plan.
Big shout out to @niallon11 who dropped a post this week about curation kicking off very soon — that's a major milestone for the community side of things and well worth a read if you haven't seen it yet.
Anyway, here's what actually got done.

🎨 Brand Design System Overhaul — The Big One

This was the week's monster. We've been building on top of shadcn's default HSL colour tokens since the start and it was starting to feel like we were fighting the design rather than owning it. So we ripped it out.
214 files migrated from shadcn HSL tokens over to a custom sb-* brand token system covering palette, typography, and motion. Every core component — Button, Badge, Navbar, feed cards — went through the restyling process. We added proper Inter font weights, a new sb-btn-press keyframe for that satisfying click feel, and format utilities to keep things consistent across the board. Barlo Condensed seems the most appropriate font to go with.

The landing page and auth page are now fully on the new design system. We also replaced the old favicon with the proper brand SVG mark, which sounds like a small thing but it's one of those details that makes the place feel real.
There was one painful moment where a missing Logo component broke the production build — which was a fun discovery — but it's sorted. The logo itself is based on blockchain and medals. A hexagonal badge with an upward arrow. The hexagon is simultaneously a blockchain block, a medal, and a ranked badge. The upward caret means: level up, earn more, rise. Ownable and scalable from 16px favicon to billboard.

⚡ Sportsbites

$1

Added the Sportsbites logo kit with the horizontal logo sitting in the page header where it belongs. There was a viewBox clipping bug on the horizontal logo that had it getting cropped in certain contexts — that's been fixed.
Also added a "share to Sportsbites" button directly on prediction cards, which is a nice little connection between the two features.

🔮 Predictions & Last Man Standing

A few important fixes and improvements here:
The ESPN match picker is now integrated for predictions, and there was a settlement lookback bug that's been squashed. There was also a timezone bug in the prediction lock time that was causing issues in both the edit modal and composer — that's gone.
The predictions feed is now sorted by status and then lock time, so upcoming matches surface first rather than being buried. Much better UX.
On LMS — registration was closed after the first gameweek as planned. We're off and running.
We also added a cricket contest this week and @talesfrmthecrypt will run this with myself if there are any bugs in the system. In golf the US Master is fast approaching and this contest will be opening soon.
This week I will be looking at the prediction system as a whole in order to award the prediction creators whether it is a creator percentage of the total pool or we go with the early bird catches the odds model. So some work to do here after the predictions page is one of our more popular sections of the site.

🏅 Badges & Rank System

The new badge pack is in with PNG assets and hex colour styling hooked up. Spent a bit of time iterating on rank badge sizing — went too big, then overcorrected and went too small, then landed somewhere sensible in the middle. The Pundit and Hall of Fame role badge images were also missing in a few places and are now showing correctly.

Everything Else

Stakers leaderboard now shows weekly APR distribution on MEDALS — useful info for anyone watching their staking returns
User profiles got a sticky editor toolbar and a follow button
Feed cards had an avatar alignment/sizing issue that's been fixed
Public folder was a bit of a mess — reorganised into sports/, icons/, and logo/ subdirectories which makes Blanchy's life much easier going forward

23 commits across the week. The brand system migration was the real heavyweight, but the predictions and Sportsbites work moved some meaningful features forward too. Badge polish is getting there — a few more categories to go and that system will be properly complete.
More soon. April is coming fast. 🚀

MEDALS STAKING

This is our 3rd week of MEDALS satking ROI which goes into your accounts. In total we are now up to 29 stakers and we have distributed 273.645 MEDALS last night. The MEDALS stake is calculated by User Stake x 0.1/52.

Curation

Curation is being turned on soon and you may notice on our dashboard that mechanics are already in place. These are being tested at the moment and will go live soon.

Any questions or comments please so not hesitate to contact me. I'm not a dev by trade so I won't be smug, look down my nose at you or tell you to feck off in my replies. This is our Community. We even respond to the tin foil helmets would you believe.

Honestly👍🎉 the gamification of the sportsblock🚀 platform is above many projects on Hive and yes, the curation will be exactly what the platform needs to explode. What i like is that you don't have to be a football expert to have fun here. The platform is designed to be fun even for people like me😊 who don't really follow sports, but appreciate the idea and the way everything is built.
