I don’t say that often. And definitely not as someone who usually enjoys seeing Bayern struggle. But what happened yesterday in Paris was something else.

PSG beating Bayern 5–4 in a Champions League semifinal is not just a crazy scoreline, it’s history. Highest scoring semifinal ever, nine goals, constant momentum shifts, and two teams basically going all-in for 90 minutes

And the crazy part? It didn’t even feel like bad defending.

It felt like pure attacking football at the highest level. Both teams just kept going, pressing, creating, finishing. One attack after the other, no real pause, no “let’s manage the game”. Just full gas.

International media are already calling it one of the greatest Champions League matches ever, and honestly, for once that doesn’t feel like exaggeration

What made this game special

It had everything. Early goals, VAR drama, penalties, individual brilliance, momentum swings, and that moment where PSG went 5–2 up and you think it’s done… and then Bayern just comes back again. Kane scoring, Olise hitting from distance, Kvaratskhelia doing things you can’t defend properly, Dembélé finishing like it’s training. And still at 5–4 you had the feeling this could go anywhere.

That’s rare at this level.

Usually games like this tighten up. Yesterday it opened up more and more.

Honest take (even as anti-Bayern)

I’m not a Bayern fan. Very, very far from it.

But you have to respect what they did there. Being 5–2 down away in Paris in a semifinal and still coming back into the tie takes serious mentality. And at the same time, PSG showed exactly why they are where they are. Speed, efficiency, and that brutal transition game that just kills you if you’re not 100% focused.

Matches like this are the reason why football is still the best sport in the world. No system, no algorithm, no prediction model can fully capture nights like this.
