Blast from the past - Monte Carlo Rallye 1999

Hi, friends!

Today we go into the past when Tommi Makinen and Mitsubishi Ralliart team ruled the world of rallying.

Makinen won four World Rally Championship titles in the row - from 1996 to 1999 and he was the king of Monte Carlo Rallye winning it four times in the row - from 1999 to 2002 (which was his last win in WRC).

But the first Monte was probably the most precious to him because it was a big battle with then privateer Gilles Panizzi who drove private All Stars Team Subaru Impreza WRC and led after day one.

Panizzi soon crashed out probably because of a too much pressure (or maybe wrong tire choice) but Makinen took it over from him and win an event.
