Blast from the past - Best of Ford Escort Cosworth Group A and WRC

Hi, friends!

Today we go into the past thirty years long because it was year 1993 when the Ford Escort Group A was introduced first as a Group A car and later, in 1997, as a World Rally Car, when the new regulations were introduced.

I remember well that the Ford works drivers of that season were double WRC champion Miki Biasion and Frenchman Francois Delecour. Their drives were pretty spectacular and always on the limit.

I remember also that third Ford works driver was Malcolm Wilson, most of the time their test driver who already had M-Sport workshop at that time. He was usually driving under Michelin Pilot banner because Michelin was his team's sponsor.

After introducing Escort WRC model in 1997, that car was on the special stages of world level for only two seasons - 1997 and 1998 because Ford introduced Focus WRC model for season 1999 with the superstar driver Coln McRae behind a steering wheel.

Even after introducing a new Focus model, an old Escort WRC was still super fast in the hands of Francois Delecour who drove it on 1999 Monte Carlo Rallye as a private driver.

We have some videos to prove you how good that car was at that time. Please enjoy... :)
