Hi, friends!

There are some changes in the World Rally Championship all the time which is quite normal because people look for a new challenges in their life. Some make changes because of the financial reasons because big paycheck can easy your life heavily, especially in this coronavirus pandemic times.

During 2021 long time (almost 20 years) M-Sport Ford designer Christian Loriaux left the team and signed for Hyundai World Rally Team. First time I heard for Loriaux was in 2003 when he designed completely new Ford Focus WRC which was able to match the speed of Citroen Xsara WRC and also win some rallies with Estonian Markko Martin behind a steering wheel. Loriaux became well know guy who could choose the team whenever he wanted but he chose to stay with M-Sport Ford for all those years.

But we all know that M-Sport is semi-private team without full involvement from Ford so that was probably the biggest reason for him to change the team for Hyundai.

When they lost the tech director, guys from M-Sport needed to find a new one and it was kinda logical that they will choose Chris Williams who is with them for more then 17 years.

He firstly designed Group N Ford Fiesta 150 which was very popular car for the guys who start with rallying. I know two guys who drove/drive the same car for years and they are both very satisfied.

Williams grew with the team and later he worked on the first Ford R5 car, again Fiesta model but we all know that R5 cars are four wheel drive machinery. That car which was introduced in 2013 was great success and that gave more wind into Williams's back to try harder.

After that he worked on their WRC cars and now he became tech director at M-Sport Ford for Puma Rally1 car which will be premiered at Monte Carlo Rallye in two weeks.
