How to deal with stress in rallying?

Hi, friends!

It is not that I am new in this sport so that I don't know how to cope with all the challenges this sport brings along but you learn during all your life.

I can only tell you that the most stressful part is preparing before the rally because you have to think about lots of things. Even now, when we have a team which thinks about the car, tires etc, there is lots of other stuff you must resolve before the rally.

The funds must be in place, you must be physically prepared so you must work on yourself every day, mental preparations for the rally with some meditations, watching onboard rally videos which organizer provides us etc.

There is also a co-driver thing, let's call it this way. The best thing is to use a professional co-driver who are paid to do the job. They cost from 300€ per day but then you know that everything will be, lets say OK.

I have a friend Damir P. for my co-driver who helped me a lot during last six years but he is sometimes very lazy which is in my eyes unprofessional and that tears my nerves. But I don't have to pay him and I drive brave when he is inside of the car because I am more relaxed with someone I know in the car.

To conclude, the best way you prepare for the rally, you are more calm during an event. So pre-event job is something to do the best you can. Professional team is a MUST if you want to finish the rallies (I would say) but they also have some of their errors but no one is perfect.

Great attitude from crew at @minnowsupport :)

Grab a beer and enjoy!

Cheers!

If money wasn't an issue, would you prefer to have your friend with you, or a professional co-driver?

It is a hard question but I guess that with professional would be easier in some things.

At least your friend would know he has some serious competition, and needs to be a lot less lazy :)

Sometimes it is hard to explain some things, even to myself. Some people should get kick in the butt to start thinking...

Sometimes we all need that, every human does 🤣
