Last proper special stage of World Rally Cars - Seb Ogier with Toyota Yaris WRC at Rally Monza 2021

Hi, friends!

World Rally Cars are now history and Rally1 cars are present at the top of the sport. WRC cars were introduced in 1997 and Subaru Impreza WRC was immediately the car to beat but with time, some other brands were there as a benchmark, especially Peugeot Sport with their 206 WRC which won two championship at the start of 2000's and later Citroen with their Xsara WRC, C4 WRC and DS3 WRC. But the thing with Citroen was that they had a super talented and most successful driver of all time - Seb Loeb, and that way is easier to develop the car and to clinch the championships.

Citroen found another great talent of rallying, another Frenchman - Seb Ogier. Two Sebs won seventeen World Rally Championships together, Loeb with nine titles and Ogier with eight driver's titles. I don't see anyone who can beat those records but maybe I am wrong because Finnish youngster Kalle Rovanpera is tremendously quick and you can expect many things from him.

But it's terrible that you must wait from the two best to leave the championship that some other guys could win the rallies or championships. That's bad. We saw at Monte Carlo Rallye in January that Seb Loeb can still win the WRC rally as almost 48 year old against youngsters.

It is interesting that these two giants couldn't be in the same team of Citroen. That was just too big for them. Team boss at Citroen have the number one status to Loeb and Ogier couldn't be number two so he left for Volkswagen were he won four titles in the row. He won titles everywhere he went except with Citroen.

That season 2019 with Citroen was the worst one for him because that C3 WRC was just a bad rally car which even Ogier couldn't make faster. I think that this was the only reason why Ott Tanak won the title that year, because Seb Ogier had a crap car that season.

But the end of an era of World Rally Cars came to an end at Rally Monza in November and there is probably no better driver then Seb Ogier to close the chapter of the latest edition of WRC cars with his Toyota Yaris WRC.

Enjoy this onboard... :)
