Loeb won WRC Monte Carlo Rallye 2022

It's not over until it's over in motorsport because it is a mechanical sport and anything can happen during the race.

Two Sebs - Ogier and Loeb - were dominating this year's opening round of the World Rally Championship - Monte Carlo Rallye which was ran this year on the mountains behind Monte and not like every year before it, at least one day around the town of Gap.

Seb Ogier was doing much better through Saturday and the first part of Sunday but then luck came into it's place and and he got front left puncture which destroyed his chances for the win.

It didn't help the jump start on the final special stage of the rally, which is also called a Power Stage, which gave him a 10s penalty and that was it. He was quicker then Seb Loeb by 9s but in the end it was just 10.5s gap between them after almost 300km of special stages.

Third place finisher Craig Breen did a great job for M-Sport Ford giving his team a lead in the manufacturer's championship because don't forget that rallly winner Loeb also drives for them.

Toyota's Kalle Rovanpera finished 4th overall for Toyota and he improved his performace through out the weekend after really bad drive on Thursday evening.

While Gus Greensmith was probably the biggest improvement so far, his team mate Adrien Fourmaux destroyed his reputation after he went off early in the rally destroying his Ford Puma Rally1 chassis.

I don't remember when rally was this much emotional because after a driver who is almost 48 (next month) won the rally after more then a year of absense from the World Rally Championship, everyone got crazy.

It was really a great weekend for rallying.
