Onboard rally video of the day - Francois Delecour with Peugeot 206 WRC at Rally Corsica
Today we go back into the past when there was first rocket-pocket WRC car introduced to the rallying world. It was legendary and one of the most popular cars from early 2000s - Peugeot 206 WRC.
Tallest Finnish driver Marcus Gronholm took two World Rally Championship titles with the same car, one in 2000 and the other in 2002. I really don't understand why Peugeot introduced newer model 307 WRC when they still had super successful 206 WRC capable of winning the rallies. Yeah, they made a mistake but they launched new road car 307 CC at that time and they needed a better promotion for the brand.
Damage was done, some wins were scored but that newer car was full of bugs and lots of technical retirements. It means nothing if you post the fastest times but car always let you down.
But there is another reason why I post this video today - legendary Frenchman Francois Delecour was super fast driver with some wins, but he never won the title.
He is still active with the Alpine rear wheel cars and I can only say that his drives are always super attractive.
Please enjoy... :)
