Onboard rally video of the day - J. Kankkunen with Toyota Celica Group A at Network Q RAC Rally

Hi, friends!

Today we are going to the days when I started to follow rallying as a huge rally fan. And one of the best guys from that time was Juha Kankkunen from Finland who won four World Rally Championship titles.

Do you know that Kankkunen have a rally school on snow and ice in Finland?
Yeah, my rally colleagues go there every winter for a perfect training and I would like to do this also. They say that Juha K is still in good shape despite his age and some other things that come with life.

Network Q RAC rally was British WRC round for probably decades and it was really a great rally with close to one million fans per event. Some journalists said that it was probably two or three million of fans in the forests watching the rally during four or five days which was the length of the rally in '90's.

Toyota Celica Group A had around 420 bhp, four wheel drive and very short six gear dog box gearbox, which you can see from the video.

Every rally has it's prologue and Network Q RAC had the same. Despite the fact it was a gravel rally, the short prologue has been held on tarmac (with big water splashes) and it wasn't a dry tarmac because it is raining a lot in Great Britain in November. So the precise is very important when driving at full speed.

Kakkunen's co-driver from that time was Nicky Grist, the same one who became Colin McRae's co-driver in the 2nd part of nineties,

I recommend this onboard strongly because it is a piece of rallying history and because you can see how was shifting on H dog box gearbox opposite to the sequential gearboxes which are present at today's rally cars.

Watch and enjoy from the Finnish master...
