Onboard rally video of the day - Petter Solberg with Subaru Impreza WRC at Rally New Zealand

Did you know that legendary Subaru Impreza WRX STI will go off the production in 2023. Yeah, time passes by and it is probably time for some more attractive models then this one is.

Every road racer knows for that model of the car and when I heard toady for the news, I was quite surprised. On the other hand, companies work on the profits and if there is no enough profit from the current model, it is time to turn the tide to something new.

back to rallying...
Season 2003 was the most successful for Petter Solberg because that was the year when he won his only World Rally Championship title. I followed it closely because that was also the last full season for two rally giants - Colin McRae and Tommi Makinen.

It was a hard fight between Solberg and Citroen's junior Seb Loeb and Petter Solberg in the end won the champiomnship at the last rally in Wales.

But that rally and season was the last one before domination of Seb Loeb who won further nine championships beyond that. Subaru Imoreza WRC just couldn't be on the pair with Citroen Xsara WRC and Solberg hat to take more risks which also means more shunts. And that's something which is not good for the crew because it ruins your confidence.

Anyway, we have beautiful onboard from WRC New Zealand which has gravel roads very similar to the ones you can find in Finland, but without bugger jumps and forests beside the road. Some of the special stages were ran on the sea coast which was something beautiful to watch and follow.
