Rovanpera jr won WRC Rally Portugal 2023
Hi, friends!
It was a strong event for Finnish youngster and current World Rally champion Kalle Rovanpera who took a lead on Friday and didn't lose it until the last special stage.
Spaniard Dani Sordo was really great but he wasn't even close to the pace of young Rovanpera. This was a first win of the season for him and now he has a strong lead over Estonian Ott Tanak of 18 points and a big lead over Seb Ogier of 29 points.
Well, Seb Ogier won't be doing a whole season but he is mentally much stronger then Rovanpera and when Ogier competed this season, Rovanpera was kinda nowhere compared to the results from the last season.
Esapekka Lappi did a good job for Hyundai finishing 3rd overall and it seems that this is hix maximum at the moment.
Ott Tanak still has a technical problems with his Ford Puma Rally1 (or a punctures) but pace is coming slowly. With the time behind a steering wheel, there will be more wins beside this year's Rally Sweden, of course.
Leading Hyundai driver Thierry Neuville didn't have a good rally and hr finished distant 5th overall with the turbo problems on the final day of Rally.
Next event is Sardinia and it will be interesting to see how this fight will go with the top drivers.
