Hivechess Tournament Season 15 Round 7: @tony1294 was the best untitled player!

Dear chess fans,

yesterday already the 7th round of season 15 was played. It was a 5+3 Blitz arena with 26 players; the average rating was 1834, the by far highest in this season. Welcome back @rafaelaquino, and welcome @memess!

The usual serial winner was @maestroask (Odnoobraz_bcm) and best untitled player was again @tony1294, like in the last round! Rank 3 went to @emic, and behind him myself (with my best place this season) and @sawko who apparently had some problems with his internet connection. Congratulations to all!

See you all next week - and keep practicing!

In the 4th game of the world championship match between Ian Nepomniachtchi (Black) and Ding Liren in this (almost equal) position instead of defending his f pawn with g5, Ian decided to play Nd4??
image.png
https://lichess.org/broadcast/fide-world-chess-championship-2023/round-4/Gm6aahO4

This was a catastrophic blunder. Ding almost immediately sacrificed his rook on d4 and after cdx, Nb3, g5 (now too late) and Nd4x, Black is completely lost, as in this closed position the knight is superior to a rook and the white pawns in the center are impossible to stop:

The score is now 2:2, everything is possible. I am looking forward to the next games!

Congratulations to the winners! I was watching the game and I thought Ding's vision on that sacrifice was great. I understand, in a way, that White has an advantage, but from there to winning that game against Nepo, making all very precise moves.... It was clear that he had everything very well calculated. I love to see this kind of thing in a world championship.

Our @maestroask is a hidden GM, @tony1294 is no doubt very strong player, but for me hero of this round is our @rodrook. Look at his average opponents and performance:

Rodrook-2023-04-14_233105.jpg

Almost 450 ELO points above his rating! Quite impressive!

And also flash news: Nepo just won game 5!

Thanks; Always great to get a mention from @lighteye. A very rare winning position against @pamboy27 but a comical ending! with 2 minutes 20 seconds on my clock and 6 seconds on his I blunder my queen ...!
