Hivechess Tournament Season 17 Round 6: @eniolw was the winner!

Dear chess fans,

yesterday the 6th round of season 17 was played, a 4+0 Swiss tournament over 9 rounds with 21 players. For the rules please refer to the announcement post. Welcome to Hivechess, @purapapita, and welcome back, @schamangerbert, @fiona777 and @maciejficek!

This time @eniolw ended up as winner (for the second time this season) with 7/8 points, only @samostically was able to take him down in a dramatic time scramble! Runner-up was @dhilan04, followed by myself, with both 6/8! Ranks 4 and 5 went to @samostically and @kintokris. Congratulations to All!

It was my best result since a long time, but a good portion of luck was involved!

Players can switch between the tournament tiers in case their rating changes! A rating in Italic indicates that this player is in "danger" of changing tiers!

In tournament 4, @eniolw is now only 3 points away from the first place!

See you all next week - and keep practicing!

IMPORTANT:
In this season the rules are in that way, that in order to qualify for the juicy prizes, you need to have participated in 5 rounds! That means to all 14 players, that have so far played only once, you need to show up for the remaining 4 rounds, otherwise no prize for you! Just wanted to emphasize this to prevent surprises later (but I am afraid anyway nobody will be reading this far).

It's never luck but always skill!

Luck does not exist, you get what you're owed!

Damn, I need to find a better way to do a reminder for this. I keep forgetting if I don't open lichess in the morning.

The first bit of advice I got when I started playing a few months ago was, "be prepared to lose a lot"

Congratulations @eniolw

It was a fun event. Swiss rules made my games more winnable considering I was not fighting with the giants every second game, like in the arena. However it was a true comedy of erros for me. First one being not taking a nap (as it is quite late for me in India) I logged in lichess about 20 mins before the game and ended up sleeping in my chair missing two of the rounds :D I don't think it affected the results as my playing was not that great even after I woke up and started playing. It is funny how bad a round I had and still I ended up liking it so much :) I guess due to my low strength I am a bigger fan of swiss as opposed to arena :)

I am so horrible at chess. I can't even beat my nephew. I always found Archon on the computer fun, but that was more about the animations. I should try to get back in the habit of playing again.

I can't believe I missed the bishop hanging on a8 in my game against samostically. I put my queen there to attack it and and then I entirely forgot about that 😂 It could have been a different story had I realized. Anyway, it was fun, thanks for the shout out.

Luck sometimes favors and if a person plays the game with passion and interest, he will definitely win. Many many congratulations to the winner.
