Most bizarre chess games, and some disrespectful play from Super GMs

Dear chessfans,

while this week the Hivechess tournament has a vacation break (next tournament is played on Friday, 5th Jan), I show you here a selection of some funny games I have collected over the time. Enjoy!

Fastest win

Have you ever won against a player with an about equal rating in 3 moves (no mouse slips)? I bet not!
In this Fischer Random game in move 3 my opponent (with White, apparently a huge fan of bishop fianchettos😄) blundered b3?? My response was Ng4 (from f6) - discovered attack against his queen and threatening mate on h2 at the same time! Crazy. isn´t it?

Back to classical chess, I recently played a game where I won (with White) in only 17 moves. Mostly due to apparent (or not so apparent?) blunders from my opponent, but still 😁
Strangely I didn´t do any mistakes in this one and fortunetely the opponent resigned early enough, so I had no change to ruin the 97% accuracy by making some blunders later (like so often in seemingly winning positions).
It was a kind of Benoni structure and, since I had played Benoni with Black extensively in earlier times I know very well it´s weaknesses. That was also the reason I completely abandoned it. So from that aspect not a complete luck that I found the right moves and it shows again, that Benoni disappeared rightfully as it is so hard to find equality if White doesn´t make mistakes.

The end position after Nxc5. The engine says it is already app. +9 for White!

Lucky

What is the definition of luck? Maybe to win with 0.01 seconds on the clock?

Active king

Here my king was actively contributing in mating my opponent (last move was Nd2#) . What is kind of normal in endgames is not that common with queen and rooks still on the board 😄

Self mate

I can only speculate why my opponent (with Black) in this position played the fatal Nc6??
Maybe he wanted to protect the dangerous d8 sqare to not get mated there?

Well, after removing the knight he uncovered a new route to get mated, by Re8+ :)

Too greedy

In this position my opponent (with White) grabbed the h6 pawn with his rook, Rxh6??!
As you will see in one glance, the game ended immediately with Rh3#
It is really key for any chess player, even if you are a newbie, that you recognize this pattern, if your king is stuck on the side of the board (any side), with the opponent´s king in opposition, this is extremely dangerous if rooks are still around!

On another note, yesterday Ian Nepomniachtchi and Daniil Dubov had played this game during the World Chess Blitz Championship, this is the end position after the 12th move as per Lichess (but the draw was agreed only after 13.Nf3 as one can see in the video):
image.png

Consequently, the chief arbiter decided later to count the game as 0 for both players because they have brought chess into disrepute by these nonsense moves and the apparent pre arrangement of the result.

What do you think, was the harsh decision by the arbiter justified?

The game of chess is exciting, but unfortunately I don't understand how to play, success for all who participate in this tournament.

The mentiones draw war really only a few days ago?! Why did they paly at all and not making a draw at the beginning?
It seems you always had silly opponends. Did you never made such blunders by your own?

Well, I only play 5+0 on lichess. Of course there are a lot of matches that make me laugh (or cry).

Wait a minute! You won in only 17 moves? That's incredible! You must be a chess guru. The game of chess is really a nice game, at least I know it is one of the games that got some life lessons attached to it.

I wish you best of luck in your news chess game too.

In the first one I won in 3 moves, but this is extremely rare 😄.
I am not a chess guru at all. Check the Hivechess tournaments, here are players way stronger!
