A disastrous Merseyside derby for Liverpool

The Merseyside derby between Liverpool and Everton took centre stage on Saturday. The contest met all expectations of everyone as we all expected fireworks and adrenaline rush through each player's body down to the managers.

Liverpool took the fight straight to Everton with an early goal to put Everton on their back foot. The game started looking like one-way traffic as usual for Liverpool but Everton soon changed the dimension of the game with an equalizer.

It was just a matter of time before Liverpool got the blow of the season.

Liverpool masterclass defender Van Dijk picked up a knee injury when he made a run to convert a set piece to goal. On his move to meet the ball, Everton goalkeeper Pope made a horrible hard tackle on him but he wasn't sanctioned cos Van Dijk was already ruled out for offside and the game was out of play.

Van Dijk is feared to face a long-term injury and that's a huge blow to Liverpool.

The game continued and Liverpool had to play without Van Dijk.

Liverpool took the lead again through Salah but heading towards the end of the game, Everton balanced the scoreline again through Calvert.

The game ended 2-2 and Everton maintain their unbeaten run while Liverpool dropped more points.
