steevc just finished a 7.02km run, that lasted for 43 minutes.
This run helped steevc burn 528.0 calories.

Description from Strava:
It was our pub music session last night. There were less than last time, but that means we each do more songs. I just took my ukulele. I was the youngest one there with the oldest in his 80s. We do need some 'fresh blood' and I have been trying to publicise it.

There were some great performances, including Rod doing Canyons Of Your Mind. You can see him playing sax here. He even did the burp at the end. I did my new song about beer.

This morning was quite mild, but it must have been raining overnight. I have less than two weeks to my 10k in London. I have a few aches, but my general fitness is okay. I am increasing my press-ups and doing a few exercises for my hip.

After feeding the chickens I did the usual loop up the hill to Fairfield. It was a bit lighter than recent runs. I saw a house up there is having solar panels fitted. Ours will go up next week and the scaffolding is already in place.

I did not feel too bad on the run. When I came back down the hill I tried to keep the pace up a bit. That resulted in a better average than other recent attempts.

I have volunteered for parkrun again as they were short of marshals. I will probably do that again next week as I do not want to run the day before the race. I am not going to significantly improve my fitness by then anyway. I will do an easy longer run on Sunday. It looks like we may get more wet weather over the next week.

Run free!

I am taking some baby steps towards running. Currently my pace of walking is 15mins/km and i don't seem to have the engine to go beyond 2kms at a stretch. Aiming to increase that and get at least 5 kms in by end of March.

The Couch to 5k program is supposed to be good for building up. You cannot expect to get straight into running. I've done this for years, so I'm used to it. I would still like to be quicker though. I just need to get over the bodily issues I have.

I will check it out. For now i have chosen a garmin coach who does 1 min of running in 9 mins cycle. Lets see how it goes. I struggled with running even when i was only 55kgs. I get stomach cramps. Maybe it was incorrect breathing

That may do a similar thing. I do get a 'stitch' sometimes, which may be like a stomach cramp. I think breathing technique can help. There's loads of info online.

In winter it happens that the leaves fall from the trees and the trees look like this but still these plants and trees look beautiful.

I did a mile and a half this morning. It wasn't all running though. I'm trying to slowly work my way up to it, so I will walk most the time, then run for a minute or two and then go back to walking. It took me about 30 minutes and I was sweating like a beast. I need to figure out some stretches to do for when I use the treadmill. My new shoes should be getting delivered today.

Alternating running with walking is the way to build it up. Take your time. There's plenty of online advice on this. It will get easier if you keep it up.

Thanks, I will look into it. I was messing around a bit more with the incline today too. That definitely adds to the dificulty.

What will you do about the aches that you feel so that you will be very fit for your 10k run in London?

They are not that bad really. It just means I will be slower, but that doesn't matter.

Way to keep at that running! Smart move not to run the day before the race, better to have fresh legs going into a competition.

That was a fun song as well, just finished listening to it!

I've learned from experience to take it easy before a race or I tend to be disappointed with my performance. I'm only racing myself really.

It's the best way to look at it! But your right it's always best to take a day to rest up before the event!
