Morning Run: parkrun 65

Description from Strava:

It was a bit warmer than I expected today. There was some rain this week that may help the grass recover, but not enough to make the course muddy yet. I had a chat with Graeme at the start and then we were off.

I started at the sort of pace I want to be doing. I overtook Graeme on the first lap, which is unusual. However he did come back past me at the finish. There were a fair few people out and we even had some police visiting who had their car parked up at the finish.

I gave it all I could, but I was getting slower on each kilometre. A few people came past me on the last lap, but we each run our own race. There were a couple ahead of me in 100 shirts who I see have done lots of different parkrun events. Some people like to travel around to log those.

The last kilometre was hard, but I kept on running. My time was better than some recently, but I really want to get back under 26 minutes. I think part of the problem is that I have not been running as much as I used to. I am doing 2 or 3 runs each week when it used to be 3 or 4 that included a longer one of over an hour. I need to get back into that routine to build my fitness.

There were some little cakes at the finish. That was nice, but I could have done with a drink to go with it. I Headed home and walked a fair bit of it until I got to the church when I started jogging. By the time I got home I had done my 10k steps. I will try for a long run tomorrow.
